LION BABE is a New York bred funk and soul duo comprised of multidisciplinary artist Jillian Hervey and producer/DJ Lucas Goodman, (also known as Astro Raw.) The pair are known for their unique sound and look and associate themselves with the term 'futuristic nostalgia' to describe their genre.
The duo has been steadily rising, and have released one LP titled "Begin" (2016 with Universal), featuring debut hit: "Treat Me Like Fire" along with "Wonder Woman" produced by Pharrell Williams & "Jump Hi" featuring Childish Gambino. They followed with their mixtape "Sun Joint," featuring JunglePussy, Raury and Angel Haze. Jillian also co-wrote and sang "Hourglass" on the Grammy nominated Disclosure album "Caracal." They are known for their magnetic performances, both at intimate fashion and art parties as well as major festivals like Glastonbury and the main stage at Coachella.
In 2018, LION BABE released singles "Rockets" featuring Moe Moks, "Honey Dew" and "Hit the Ceiling" which was featured on HBO's hit show "Insecure." This year they have released covers of classics "Get Into The Party Life" by Little Beaver and Carly Simon's "Why." This has all led up to their new album "Cosmic Wind" featuring pre - released records "The Wave" featuring Leikeli47 and their latest single "Western World" feat. Wu-Tang Clan's own "Raekwon." "Cosmic Wind" is a record that showcases the bands growth as artists and musicians, and is rooted in themes of transformation and inevitable change.
Lion Babe’s music is great, but it was a very short show and they showed up late. Suppose to start at 10pm. Didn’t start til around 10:30pm for an hour because they had another show at midnight. The crowd was alright. An interesting mix bag of people so the vibe was off.
It was a small intimate performance. Lovely to bring my goddaughter on her 1st concert going experience together. Jillian's voice was just like the recordings and Astro did his thing with the beats and on guitar. Positive vibes only!
Show was slated to start 7:30 so I figured she’d at least hit the stage no later than 8:30. Wrong. She didn’t come out until almost 9:30. She has a great voice and the parts of the show I saw were good but that 2 hours wait was ridiculous.
lion babe finally came to Dallas and killed it!! Julian Hervey and Astro Raw came out with so much energy!! I had a blast! They played their new music and some old but good songs! The crowd was small, but they still gave everything they had and the crowd was really receptive for their vibe!! These two are super talented, I hope they continue to grow and gain more popularity!!
This is a group that is headed for stardom. Tremendous energy and so much talent. Jilian Hervey is a force of nature, with a great voice, dance moves and a down to earth demeanor that really connects with the audience. Seeing them in a cozy venue like the Brighton Music Hall was a great experience.
LION BABE always puts on such an amazing show, it’s creative, intimate, sexy, fun, great energy, so much thought and hard work goes into their shows, I highly recommend them! 🦁❤️
Breath taking... the music ,the costumes, the attention to detail...Lion Babe is a artist to grow with on the journey of life. Any time you see a ticket grab one it’s worth it.
Event though doors opened a little late it was all worth the wait. Best show I’ve ever been too, openers were fantastic, Lion babe was even better.
The dancing, the music, the production... they gave it there ALL and the crowd was singing right along with them!!!!!!!!!!!
One of the best concerts I've ever been to in my life & I've been to a lot of shows. The energy was off the charts! I highly recommend LION BABE!
