About

The Lemonheads on Tour

The Lemonheads are an American alternative rock band that tantalizes fans with their melodic tunes and catchy songs. From the beginning, you'll be engulfed in a one-of-a-kind experience when attending a Lemonheads show.

Not only does The Lemonheads' live show feature a diverse lineup of music from their own catalog, the band also entertains thousands of fans with amazing covers of classic songs such as "Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel.

With more than 40 years of experience, The Lemonheads have headlined numerous tours dating back to the '80s. Fans looking to see the band live can catch them on their "It's a Shame About Ray" 30th anniversary tour.

The 30th anniversary tour offers concertgoers a flash from the past, as the band will play the entirety of their 1992 album It's a Shame About Ray. This tour will also mark the first time the Lemonheads have taken the stage in North America since touring with Dinosaur Jr.

The Lemonheads Live in Concert

Even though there have been many members to play in the band, The Lemonheads were originally founded by Evan Dando, Ben Deily and Jesse Peretz in Boston in 1986. The college friends enjoyed early success as a college rock band formerly known as The Whelps. It wasn't until the band recorded and self-released their EP that they changed their name to The Lemonheads.

During the band's early years, Dando and Deily shared vocal and songwriting duties while Peretz played bass. Throughout the late '80s, The Lemonheads released three albums that enjoyed a nice run and solid playtime on college radio.

However, the group's big breakthrough wasn't until 1992 when they released the album It's a Shame about Ray. At this point, The Lemonheads' band members had gone through a change, and Dando was the only remaining member of the band left.

The band's biggest exposure came when they did a cover tribute of "Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel -- which was featured as a bonus track on a rereleased version of It's a Shame About Ray. The combination of their signature melodic sound and the classic lyrics helped The Lemonheads gain further popularity on mainstream radio. Their 1993 album, Come on Feel the Lemonheads, featured the single "Into Your Arms," which topped the Billboard Modern Rock chart. Shortly after the release of their 1996 album Car Button Cloth, The Lemonheads retreated from the spotlight for over a decade, emerging again in 2006 with with a self-titled album.

Since the '90s, the band have continued to tour, headlining shows worldwide in North America and Europe.
