Best show we’ve seen in awhile

by Chris on 4/15/24191 Toole - Tucson

It is no exaggeration to state that Las Cafeteras is a Divine Gift to Humanity, to Music, and to Culture... To Humanity, they bring an intentional and courageous message of Love, Acceptance, Unity, Peace, Vision, Hope, Progress... To Music, they bless the sense of Hearing with the traditional folkloric sounds from native America and Mexico and season it with spices from Hip Hop, 50's & 60s Rock, Rythm & Blues, Ska, Reggae, New Wave... To Culture, they weave a tapestry with Threads from Mexico, Latin-America, Afro-America, and U.S dress, dance, lyrics, style... Their Energy, their Sounds, their Message, will bring tears to your eyes... eject laughter and joy from your heart and soul... all while possessing your body with an irresistible force to dance the night away...

    It's happy, it's sad, it's wonderful

    by Human11 on 11/1/23

Excellent show. It's even more amazing that a small troupe covered all the parts and characters. The energy and vocal performances ranged from great to fantastic. I particularly loved how old folk songs were blended with modern style. Some of which would be an excellent addition to current radio/streaming channels. It's been misreported that the show was all in Spanish. I was there on the same night. While there was a lot of Spanish it was generally accompanied by English so that the audience cold follow the story, the history, and the meaning. I speak very little Spanish and wasn't lost at all. Also, the show was not political as one person claimed and there wasn't some big agenda that I felt was being forced into the story. Yes, there was some content that could be considered a political topic, but it was relevant to the theme of life and death in the modern age and very much a legitimate human topic independent of politics. So why ignore it? Good art should always affect us emotionally and make us think about the perspective. Overall it was an excellent celebration of one aspect of a very rich culture, very professionally done. We are glad we went and enjoyed it thoroughly.

    Outstanding!!!

by Dominic on 10/25/23Centennial Hall - Tucson

This is the 3rd time we have seen this group. This is a whole new concept, we loved it. Imagine a Mexican Day of the Dead Rock opera. Not that the music was Rock , but it was so interesting in the beat, the story the sound. They always tell a story, a relevant important one. That is the case again. You feel the pain, the emotion, the Heart. I would highly recommend seeing this group. They just keep getting better and better. They have an important message, one the World need to hear.

    Total disappointment!

    by Yari76 on 10/25/23Centennial Hall - Tucson

Total disappointment! Me and my husband left in the middle of the play because we couldn't take it anymore! It was more a political statement than a play of the Catrinas like the Day of the Dead thing. I was expecting something more like Coco Movie. Lots of people left before it ended because it wasn't a story or musical about the culture or history of the Catrinas and Mexico.. it was more about immigrants and politics that didn't had to do anything with the concept or history of the Catrinas. Total waste of money and time.

by Robobaca on 10/24/23Centennial Hall - Tucson

The whole experience was incredibly fantastic. The group was very talented and entertaining. The venue was outstanding and the fact that there were food trucks and drinks galore added to the experience! Centennial Hall is a perfect place to view a musical event and all the staff was professional and helpful! Las Cafeteras is an immensely talented group of musicians and very versatlle in their presentation. I would gladly go to see them again.
