Legendary American Jazz Guitarist LARRY CARLTON, the winner of 4 Grammy Awards and 19 Grammy Award nominations for his performances and compositions, is touring Australia in May/June 2014 proudly presented by Abstract Entertainment. His playing style was influenced by such legends as Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery, Barney Kessel, B.B King and John Coltrane and is best remembered performing on the theme song for the hit television series, "Hill Street Blues".
As a Session musician in Los Angeles, making up to five hundred recordings a year, including albums for Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Christopher Cross, Barbra Streisand and Charly Garcia's Clics Modernos. His guitar work on Steely Dan's "Kid Charlemagne" has been listed as the third best guitar solo on record by Rolling Stone Magazine. He also played guitar on Michael Jackson's "Off The Wall" album.
Larry was great, but not enough Larry. The show started late and shockingly there was no encore! Obstructed seats was a minus as well. Going to a concert and watching it on a TV screen wasn't great either.
Larry Carlton is a great performer and it was evident in Portsmouth, NH at Jimmy’s Jazz Club. The sound system there is second to none! Wish he’d done an encore but he had another show in less than an hour. Would have liked to have said hi to him also but again no time between shows.
Larry is as smooth as ever. He played some Crusaders songs, some of his solo songs, and several Steely Dan hits. He played his new Larry Carlton signature Sire guitar. Jimmy's Jazz Club was a very nice venue. A wonderful evening listening to this master guitar player and his wonderful band!
Unfortunately Larry Carlton abruptly ended the show without playing 2 songs of the sets and then did not return for the encore where it was planned for another 2 songs. I have the set list so this is accurate. Perhaps he was not feeling well but no words were given to the audience. What he played was great but we were short changed.
It was a pleasure to hear Larry Carlton play his awesome iconic solos among other crowd pleasing songs. Pure Perfection is the best description of the performance Larry and the band achieved. The sound was high quality. We left totally satisfied and uplifted to have been in the presence of these superb musicians. Bravo 👏

I’ve seen Larry Carlton and Matt Marshak numerous times. Both were excellent and always exceed expectations!! It was a fabulous show!!!!
Larry Carlton always puts on a terrific show. His band is tight and professional. The Space at Westbury is a very nice venue but sadly there was a sparse crowd that night. A good crowd always adds to the energy of the show.
Everyone in the guitar community knows Larry for a reason.
Larry Carlton is a true guitar legend. Not only was the concert great, but I loved the stories Larry told of his days as a session musician. Larry's band was also great. Keith Carlock on drums! This guy has played drums on many Steely Dan tours.
