Vancouver-born, Brooklyn-based pianist/vocalist Laila Biali has come a long way in a short time. She burst onto the music scene while in her early twenties with a singular sound evolving out of a broad blend of influences from Keith Jarrett to Chopin, Joni Mitchell and Björk. Now 30, Biali has released her Juno-nominated third album—Tracing Light—a culmination of nearly 10 years of work with world-renowned artists (Sting, Suzanne Vega, Chris Botti) and numerous awards. It's a killer collection of originals, standards and songs written by, among others, k.d. Lang, Billy Joel and Daniel Lanois.
