LADY LAMB THE BEEKEEPER IN CONCERT:

Indie folk up-and-comer Lady Lamb The Beekeeper has spent years fine-tuning her craft and ammassing an impressive catalog of songs in the vein of Jeff Buckley, Okkervil River, and Alabama Shakes. Though Aly Spaltro, the woman behind the music, stands at just five-foot-two, she commands the stage with authority, radiating confidence and stunning ticket buyers with her soulful, mature vocals. She can usually be seen with a guitar slung around her shoulder but also dabbles with the ukulele and banjo, showing off stellar musicianship on the toe-tapping "Crane Your Neck" and the singalong "Between Two Trees". Her jangly folk songs are filled with poignant lyrics, and powerful moments like her a cappella rendition of "Up In The Rafters" never fail to bring the room to an awed hush. Lady Lamb The Beekeeper may have been New England's best kept secret, but with her live shows earning more and more buzz, it's safe to say the secret's out.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Lady Lamb The Beekeeper is the moniker of Maine-born indie folk musician Aly Spaltro . Influenced by artists including The Beatles, The Isley Brothers, and Neutral Milk Hotel, Spaltro started writing songs in high school. Both her lyrics and her stage name were inspired by journals she uses to record her dreams, and her evocative music provides listeners a glimpse of her extraordinary dreamscapes. Over the years Lady Lamb honed her craft with regular performances in Portland and Boston's club scenes. In 2010 she released her first LP Mammoth Swoon and won the Boston Music Award for Folk Artist of the Year. Following the release of her 2013 sohpomore album Ripley Pine, she penned a deal with Brooklyn-based label Mom+Pop (Sleigh Bells, Andrew Bird) for the release of her third album, 2015's After.

    Mind blowing!

by Kim on 9/28/23State Theatre - Portland

Wow! The energy, the connection to the audience, the range of her voice; what an experience! From full on rocking out with an 11 piece band to beautiful ballad solos and with her drummer, this is a night I will never forget. The space was safe, welcoming and everyone felt a sense of belonging and camaraderie with each other and Lady Lamb and the incredible musicians alongside her. Great job to the State Theater as well for making it safe. Please come back soon! My soul was ripped open and filled with spiritual bliss from the opening notes and words to the last! Bless you and thank you for being you!

    Lady Lamb is incredible live

by William on 9/26/23State Theatre - Portland

I have been to a few concerts this year and can say without any doubt that Lady Lamb was the best one of the bunch. Her singing and the band were absolutely incredible. I would go so far as to say that she was even better live than listening on any streaming service. 11/10 I look forward to being able to attend another concert of her’s in the future!

    Special backyard show

    by Jordan s. on 8/24/23

A friend of mine snagged some tickets to a special Lady Lamb show in someones backyard. It was extremely intimate with a 50 person crowd maximum. I didnt know any of her music beforehand and listened to some during the weeks leading up to the show. Honestly wasnt super into going tonight, but she really won me over. She seemed like such a wonderful, caring, genuine, nice person and she spoke with the crowd, encouraged the small group to participate, took a few requests then hung out and talked to people for a long time after. It was one of the best shows ive been to in a very long time and it really felt very special and it felt like she put as much effort and energy into a show for around 40-50 people as some artists ive seen give for hundreds. Highly recommend checking out a show if given the opportunity. Ill be digging into her albums further now.

    Full Throttle

by The Nitrane on 6/5/19State Theatre - Portland

Lady Lamb delivered an inspired and energized performance. The fans (myself included), were true believers. Lady Lamb put herself out there, quite literally; wading through the crowd, singing and dancing along with the adoring audience was a highlight. It was concert not just to promote her new work, but also to acknowledge her Maine roots and was full of fan sing along favorites.

    Exceeded expectations!

by Anna on 6/4/19State Theatre - Portland

Amazing show! Lady Lamb has a great stage presence and a unique voice that sounds the same live as in recordings. She came down into the audience to sing a song and was a very generous performer. I really hope I can see her live again!
