    Solid, Energetic Aretha Franklin Tribute

    Lady Jae, The Songbirds, and the Decade of Soul Band did a great job covering 16 of Aretha's biggest hits on her 76th birthday. The songs were mainly taken from her 60's Atlantic Records catalogue. Lady Jae didn't try to sound exactly like Aretha, but captured the essence of the songs with her very capable and exciting vocals. The songbirds provided complementing harmonies that took us back to the days these songs were released. The Decade of Soul Band aptly recreated the sounds of the sixties that provided the perfect backdrop for the set of songs. It would have been nice if they sprinkled in a few songs from her later catalogues at Atlantic and Arista, but the selected set was completely satisfying.
