    Ashley Bishop-Diggs is Lady Day

by Ginger on 11/3/21Attucks Theatre - Norfolk

This was a great show with a wonderfully talented star. The songs were all there, but more striking was the portrayal of Billy Holiday in the last stages of her career. Beautifully done.

    Outstanding

by Coach on 11/1/21Attucks Theatre - Norfolk

The venue is great - excellent acoustics and just the right size for an event like this. The musical trio was spot on and of course the actress was superb. I would recommend this show for anyone that likes music and has a sense of the racism that permeated our society in the first half of last century. It was not just the music but the oral history that made the show.

    Need a new audio engineer

by BillyJoanna on 10/4/11Des Moines Civic Center - Des Moines

The performance was terrific, but the audio was terrible. Unfortunately, this made for an irritating and frustrating experience. Some people walked out in the middle when it was obvious there would be no correction. I feel for the performers because they were excellent and apparently trusted the audio component to stage management. I am not sure how they could let such a performance continue. It would have been better, in such a small venue, to let Sierra sing without a mic and to have had the piano tuned before the performance. Thumbs down on this show, although with a little fixing, it would be worth the trip. For us, that meant a two hour journey by car. I wrote StageWest, but they have not responded. Wish I had more positive comments to share because Hedwig was SUPER and I expected a similar performance from Lady Day. :-(
