    Kyuss is awesome.

by lonnyzone on 1/16/12The Paramount - Huntington

First thing, if you go to the Paramount, earplugs are a must. The sound was so loud, it hurt. I had the pick of seats in my area, and in some of them, due to the excessive volume, it hurt in your chest. My first visit to the venue. The two opening bands were a surprise. Kyuss went on around 1030 pm. Kyuss was awesome. So glad I decided to go.

    Kyuss Lives!

by Anonymous on 12/11/11The Paramount - Huntington

They were pretty good, but need Josh H. to play with them. You need a frontman with some presence. The Paramount is an awesome venue. They had a nice bar out front, and inside there were bars the entire length of the hall, on both sides! Then for those in the loge areas, there was a smaller bar up there. This joint is the best concert venue on Long Island.

    Kyuss and The Sword!!!

by Ninjapirate on 11/28/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

It was pretty much impossible for me to stand still during this concert. Whether it was headbanging to the heavy parts or grooving to the slower sections, I was in constant motion. In my mind, that is the best way to enjoy a rock concert (or really any music).

    Go to the show idiot

by BuckHarness on 11/27/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Best desert stoner rock band ever. This dumb review plat form says my review text is to short so I'm writing something dumb like the fact that it thought my review was to short and stuff.

    WOW!

by EvolWevol on 11/26/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

I was stoked to hear that Kyuss was going back on tour, so I bought tickets. How could you miss something like this?! We missed the first (2?) bands but made it to see The Sword. They were pretty good live. I would recommend them too. Kyuss played an amazing set opening with Gardenia. WOW! I was in awe! The only bad thing about the whole concert: It was an all ages show on a Tuesday night before Turkey Day, it should have been 21+ only. Oh yeah, this venue kicks ass sound wise, but if you are short or get there late: good luck trying to get a view of the band. Luckily I was standing on a stair and got to see the whole thing.

Awesome band, awesome show. They are so musically talented. Do not miss them if they happen to stop in your town. I really enjoyed Black Cobra as well! (Missed other 2 opening bands so cannot comment on them.)

A must for fans of anything heavy.

by StonerFan on 11/25/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Black Cobra opened, and I was regrettably unimpressed. Their music changed rhythm too often, and it was hard to hear a single thing the "singer" was screaming into the mic. It was impossible to headbang to. YOB put on a pretty good display, especially Mike Scheidt who was grinding against his guitar and making a vibrant display of the power stance and headbanging with his hair flailing everywhere. They played a nice mellow fingerpicked tone as their last song, which was pretty mezmerizing. Mellow but heavy. The only way to describe The Sword is "unforgettable". Every song they played was incredible, and even the crowd sang along with some of the choruses. Kyuss was also an incredible show, which is basically all I can say about them. Amazing.

Excellent show; one of the best I've seen in years

by csorens on 11/22/11The Regency Ballroom - San Francisco

Kyuss way exceeded my expectations! I've been listening to Kyuss' albums for 20 years, and I can say that the studio albums don't convey the true power that Kyuss possesses live! The sound wasn't even dialed in to perfection at the Regency Ballroom in SF, but Kyuss cut right through and proceeded to strip away all of my apprehensions about seeing them sans one of the original founding members. I was vindicated in thinking that this show would be special enough to warrant the 45 mile drive.! I could delve a lot more into technical details, but suffice it to say that if they are coming your way and you even remotely have an interest in them based on any of their albums, don't hesitate to see them live; the live show has more power than than the albums. Kyuss and Monster Magnet would be the dream team of Stoner Rock. Trouble would be a great band to mix in with this, too. OK, so I'm just fantasizing about a perfect Stoner Rock show.... Now the complaints: The only downside for me wasn't the band(s); the Regency Ballroom's liquor prices/selection were a ripoff. One double Crown Royal shot and a crummy beer cost me over $30, more than a GA ticket! Youch! Prepare to be stripped of income if you want a few good rounds. OK, so its' SF I guess, but a second mortgage just to get a few drinks?
