KEVIN EUBANKS IN CONCERT:

Jazz guitarist extraordinaire Kevin Eubanks delights audiences with his furious melodicism and engaging passion on the six-string. His lightning-fast fingers and soulful licks are a perfect fit for the jazz fusion he performs in concert, and audiences canít help but be floored by the intensity and talent this celebrity bandleader brings to the stage. After 25 years of fronting the Tonight Show Band, Eubanks has cherry-picked some of todayís most talented jazz musicians to take ticket buyers on a daring musical journey that includes favorites like ìGhost Dog Bluesî, ìThe Dirty Monkî, and ìBlue in Greenî. Music lovers shouldnít pass up this opportunity to watch him put a fresh twist on his favorite tunes, because this masterful guitarist makes sure crowds have just as much fun in their seats as he has on stage.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Kevin Eubanks was born in Philadelphia in 1957, where his musical upbringing afforded him the opportunity to learn violin, trumpet, and piano in addition to guitar. After attending Berklee College of Music in Boston he moved to New York in 1980, and before long his guitar chops were attracting the attention of noted jazz musicians like Art Blakey, Roy Haynes, and Dave Holland. Eubanks made his recorded debut as a band leader in 1983 with the album Guitarist, and later that year he toured Jordan, Pakistan, and India as a goodwill ambassador of the U.S. State Department. Years of gigging and recording prepared him for his big break as a guitarist in The Tonight Show Band, which he joined in 1992. In just thirty six months he was promoted to band leader, and has since gone on to became a household name alongside host Jay Leno. Wanting to focus more on his own music, Eubanks amicably parted ways with the show in 2010 after 25 years of service. With the ability to pursue any project he desired, the guitarist issued his first album in 15 years, 2010ís Zen Food. Eubanks continues to impress audiences with his performance chops while captivating listeners with recorded material like Duets, his 2015 collaboration with fellow guitar virtuoso Stanley Jordan.

    Kevin Eubanks

Loved the music and Kevin's personality- but didn't play long enough. Seemed as if he cut off quickly.

    So Disappointing!

by StLouisLinda on 3/19/14Lumiere Place - St. Louis

Wish I had done a little research before buying tickets to his "performance.' Ended up being more like a jam session, with Eubanks and his two band members playing more for themselves than for the audience. The same 5 notes over and over, very hardcore modern jazz for those who are really into that!

    Kevin rocked the house!

    by DublinMom3 on 10/31/11Southern Theatre - Columbus

Kevin Eubanks was awesome. His fingers flew over that guitar. When it was over, I wanted to see his fingers and feel the callouses he must have from this amazing talent. The only negative is: I wish he was on stage the entire night. While I enjoyed CJO, I thought Kevin would be on the entire time. The stage became electrified when he began playing. He is someone to watch and see where he goes with this amazing skill.

The evening was enriching as well as enjoyable. The orchestra performed very well. They responded enthusiastically to Eubank's repertoire. The TV theme related easily to the audience. The discussion of Eubank's background (especially guitarists who influenced him) was educational. Stripling is amazing.
