    This was AWFUL!

by CranwellMan on 5/14/14Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club - Somerville

The venue was disorganized. The event started late. The food was fair with a limited menu, essentially burgers. NONE of the 3 women were at all funny. Not even a little bit. It was painful to listen to. I kept hoping the next one would be better-she wasn't! Then there was a loud, fat, gay man, who was just crude, NOT funny. No wonder the tickets were free! We left as soon as we could. What a waste of time.

Johnny D's is great! But, the comedy show is definitely not funny at all. Very disappointed.

Meh, had some laughs but not enough

by FunnyBrownGuy on 4/12/14Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club - Somerville

It was an amateur late night talk show set up. They had a powerpoint projector they used in telling jokes/reports. Guests were hit or miss. The science experiments and lego guessing game, among other aspects were dumb/weak.

    Good upcoming comic

    by BigRed1234 on 3/2/14Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club - Somerville

Stage set up like a talk show. He also had a friend doing music on stage for him with some fun original jingles in between guests and segments. Ken was very interacted with the crowd and funny. A lot of topical humor, I'll have to check out his pod cast. It would be nice to see him in the future with his own tv nite time talk show.

    surprisingly very funny

by billytans on 3/2/14Johnny D's Uptown Restaurant & Music Club - Somerville

I say surprisingly because I had never heard of Ken Reid, there wasn't exactly a line out the door and he was the only act before Johnny D's cleared the place out with an additional cover for the band coming on later. Kenny does a spin off of just about every other late night talk show. Opening monologue, guests and some original stuff tossed in. His Paul Shafer, if you will, is a peculiar guy that is not funny or entertaining. The funniest thing about him is that he calls himself a one man quartet, but he's not very good at that either. The show was of the hip funny, Ken was a quick wit and engaging with his show guests (personal friends). Being my first time I couldn't tell you if they are the same guests each time but they too were entertaining and humorous. The lady who does the dating portion of the show was a no show from illness. I would see this show again and recommend it to others in hope that they get as many laughs as my friend and I did.
