From her days touring the globe with one of the world’s best-selling girl groups to her 2013 Whitney Houston-influenced solo release “Talk a Good Game,” Destiny’s Child founding member Kelly Rowland is representing the R&B/pop genres well. The Houston native had a hand in writing the majority of songs on her fourth solo effort, which celebrates womanhood and features production by Pharrell Williams and The-Dream, among others. Even fellow Destiny’s Child members Michelle Williams and top ticket seller Beyonce make guest appearances, lending their well-matched vocals to the track “You Changed.”
Since the group’s amicable breakup in 2005, Rowland has remained focused on her own path. Along with unveiling four studio albums and headlining three major worldwide tours, the mezzo-soprano has also ventured into film and reality television. Rowland has tackled co-hosting duties on the American version of “The X Factor,” along with three international versions of the music competition.
This event was billed Kelly Rowland with opening act Black Alley, not only was Black Alley not the opening act , we had to learn this from the bands social media pages. I was really dissapointed in the fact the hometown band was kicked off the bill and the fact there fans were not notified until they were standing in the long line. Very displeased with the Howard Theatre for this move..
Very good show. Ms Rowland seemed to enjoy her time in the capitol. except for that sound issue it was a great show. Howard theater needs to look into that as something similar happened a few weeks back during the Tweet concert.
Kelly did an EXCELLENT job!!! Her show was high energy and her vocals were great. I only wished she performed more songs off of her new album
I never seen Kelly Rowland perform before and she blow me away. She sounds great and looked great. I would pay to see her again because a hour was not long enough. Also, I love the look of the Howard Theader. There food and drinks was good.
I like Kelly Rowland, but I LOVE Black Alley. Black Alley was supposed to open for Kelly Rowland and that's what sold me. Then they kicked Black Alley off and Daley opened. I like Daley, but I LOVE Black Alley. It was pretty disappointing. I only purchased tickets because the band I love was opening and I knew they'd kick the night off right. I was pretty saddened they weren't there and no one said a word in explanation. Kelly Rowland put on a good, but short show. Sang a verse off her songs, and ended the show just when I was starting to recover from my disappointment. Meh! I had fun, it was an alright show, but it was supposed to be awesome and epic... it fell way short. :(
I loved it. I was very excited to see Kelly Rowland live and she did not disappoint. The venue was nice and she was fabulous. I had a great time. Her opening act was also amazing, Daley, I think. I did not give the event 5 stars because The Howard Theater kept guests waiting outside a bit longer than expected which was not very nice. Also, I think Kelly should have had a longer set and a meet and greet.
The Dream was remarkable as usual. Terius is an absolute genius. I downloaded IV Play as soon as it was available and have not stopped listening to it yet. I wish he had skipped the Jodeci cover and performed High Art, Tron, or Psycho. It was my first time seeing Kelly perform live and I was surprised pleasantly at how pitch perfect her vocals were.
Kelly Rowland was very engaging and had an excellent stage performance. The show was full of high energy and a lot of fun!!!!!!!! Recommend if she comes to your town definitely check her out, you won't be disappointed!
I loved the Kelly Rowland performance...I will definitely go to another Kelly Rowland concert as soon as possible.
Kelly Rowland's was dynamite. Very talented artist. Had the VIP meet and greet package. She was kind and professional. The Dream was good but,I was turned off by his vulgar language towards female fans in audience.
