    Simply Awesome

by WestTexasWalt on 6/4/13Gexa Energy Pavilion - Dallas

Every band was great, but there are none that compare to the Avett Brothers!

Matt and Kim were the best

by Frankvas on 6/3/13Gexa Energy Pavilion - Dallas

Overall a great series. Having a second set of bands playing 30 minutes on a separate stage seems silly, and the ushers would not let us come under the cover during the rain.

    Better Than Last Year

by Fab4Eyes on 6/3/13Gexa Energy Pavilion - Dallas

Fantastic show! I thought the lineup was much better than 2012's. And the schedule between the two stages was better spaced than last year allowing us to see all of the acts without having to choose between 2 bands. Only disappointment was that The Orbans were rained out. I've been trying to catch their show for a while. Was very impressed with Grace Potter & the Nocturnals and The Avett Brothers. Milo Greene got the evening kicked off very nicely.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals were fabulous.

by Nick29er on 6/3/13Gexa Energy Pavilion - Dallas

Grace Potter should have headlined. I had not heard any of their music before and they had me hanging on every note. Great live band - sounded great, were entertaining to watch, and engaged the crowd. Avett bros. were ok. Prefer their music recorded. I noticed that half way through several people around me were sitting and texting. The band I went to see was Dawes and they did not dissapoint. Great harmonies. Tight musicianship. They should have had more time on stage. Matt & Kim were entertaining. Not my favorite choice of music style but that was probably my shortcoming. The crowd was loving it so props to them for giving the people what they want. On the the west stage i was able to hear Roomsounds, oil Boom and R2B2. Roomsounds seemed to be some mixing issues but they were good enough to make me want to hear more. Oil Boom was really good. Shake it Down was the standout song. R2B2 was the pleasant surprise on the local side. A lot of talent here I look forward to seeing them again.

    What an amazing mini-festival

by SarahFW on 6/3/13Gexa Energy Pavilion - Dallas

The weather couldn't have been better (well, I could have done without the lightning). The lawn wasn't overfilled with folks like I've seen at some Gexa shows. It was just a really great day with a lot of great bands.

I was greatly looking forward to this event, but due to a combination of factors, I didn't have an ideal experience. First of all, I should've brought bug spray (not the Avett Bros' fault!). Second, there was waaaaay too much smoking going on in the seats and on the lawn (that's the venue's fault)-- as a recent quitter, I did not appreciate all the second hand. And third, which WAS the Avett Bros' fault... I really don't know what it was, maybe the style of music, but I found myself getting very sleepy. Even my friend who's a die-hard fan said it wasn't their "best" show. It's weird, because they were clearly putting a LOT of energy into the performance, but it felt cookie-cutter. Maybe it's the style of music that's so predictable-- banjos and harmonies. Not my cup of tea. But I always give artists a chance, and personally, it felt like something was off. It felt like they were putting a lot of effort into it, but not surprising themselves & keeping it alive. Maybe another day!

Too Bad The Avett Brothers Showed Up

by therealJimBob on 6/3/13Gexa Energy Pavilion - Dallas

Great overall show until the Avett Brothers hit the stage. Left after three of their songs. Seemed like a 21st century version of The Monkees, except not nearly as talented. It was about twice as loud as it needed to be and the grossly overdone Bass was enough to cause heart arrythmia. All the other bands we saw were just fine although Matt & Kim (mostly Kim) were unnecessarily crude for what was supposed to be a family event (and Matt telling the audience when he had about 3 songs left "oh yes, I should have warned you if you have kids here cover their ears whenever Kim opens her mouth" bordered on ridiculous - I think he thought it was funny - Brooklyn!).

    Summer Funfest was SUPER!!!!

by Anonymous on 6/3/13Gexa Energy Pavilion - Dallas

I have been a fan of KKXT since you went on the air and chose the Summer Funfest as my son's first concert. You did not disappoint. The line up was great with smooth transitions. We will be attending next year.
