Styx... Wow.
by Sounddisappointed on 6/2/11Midway Stadium - St PaulStyx really rocked the joint. They showed why they are rock icons. Cheap Trick put on a pretty awesome show, but all in all I think Styx was the BEST choice for a headliner.

Cheap Trick is my favorite band of all time! My best friend and I had seen them in concert and gotten autographs back in the 80's when we were in college. When I heard they were coming to St Paul, MN, I knew we had to be there! They did not disappoint!! Rick Nielsen is so fun to watch and love his high energy! Can't wait to see them again!
I realy enjoied seeing badfinger joey is a pro entertainer, cheep trick high energy, styx seen them twice with dennis DEYOUNG ennergetick replacement only dissapointment Tommy Shaw didnt sing cristal ball because he had larenjites.
I have seen Styx 30 times and it never gets old. They are ALWAYS FABULOUS. I have never seen Cheap Trick but loved them!
One can always go to a Cheap Trick show expecting greatness and not be let down, but they were absolutely over-the-top this time around. In paraphrasing another person's description of Robin Zander's vocals, he has lungs of iron. An average listener could think that Cheap Trick is simply making the round of the has-been circuit. The average listener would be completely missing the point. This band keeps playing because they are just that good. Styx was surprisingly good, and their show had great energy. I am still perplexed by the placing of them above Cheap Trick in the line-up, but they, too, are still strong vocally and instrumentally. 74
Loved the concert - well worth the money - great line up - very little time wasted between bands...
As always, Styx put on a great show! It's unfortunate that they can't fill the place with the bands they had. I would estimate the crowd at 500, which was great for us, as we got to be in about the third row. We paid $25 a ticket for something that would have been about $200 at the X. Hope they get great reviews so they can continue!
I feel this was misrepresented. It was advertised to start at 2:00PM. The music did not start until after 3:00. It went until 11:PM. The schedule should have been advertised. Styx was the only worthwhile band and of course they didn't play until the last.
Cheap Trick were fantastic - playing both old classics and new tunes equally amazing. I haven't seen them in over 20 years, but they are as great as I remember, if not better. Styx was very good, playing all the hits.
The bands were great. Really enjoyed seeing Badfinger for the first time, Cheap trick was fine - didn't blow me away. Styx was fantastic - sounded superb. Castle Walls and Suite Madaam Blue were out of this world great !! Beer at $8 was too expensive. The venue was fine - although the tarp on the field in front of the stage had a bad smell to it. Too bad more people weren't there to enjoy this great show.
