About

JULY TALK IN CONCERT:

Canadian indie outfit July Talk is quickly rising the ranks with their blues-meets-pop sound and the engaging vocal interplay of dual lead singers Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay. Dreimanis' husky growl is the perfect counterpoint to Fay's demure purr, and the duo play up the he-said-she-said drama with tongue-in-cheek lyrical bickering and amicable play-fighting on stage. Whether they're sending each other up on "Paper Girl" or rocking hard on "Summer Dress", the dynamic pair are the perfect front to the band's potent blend of indie, pop, and good old fashioned rock and roll.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

July Talk formed in Toronto in 2012 after smoky-voiced musician Peter Dreimanis overheard the angelic Leah Fay singing in a bar. She instantly became his muse, and together they assembled a band that complemented their strikingly different singing styles. July Talk released their self-titled debut album that same year, impressing critics with their robust blues-inspired sound and the playful vocal exchange of Dreimanis and Fay. In 2013 the band toured with big-name acts like Weezer and Tegan and Sara, wowing audiences with their vibrant energy and showmanship. Additional performances at festivals like Rock the Park London and the Toronto Urban Roots Festival helped cement their reputation as a must-see live act, setting big expectations for their sophomore album and accompanying tour.

    July Talk at the Shelter

by Tarzan on 5/1/23The Shelter - Detroit

July Talk put on an excellent show. I am a wheelchair user. The staff were very helpful and carried me down the small staircase to enter the venue, although the narrowness made it difficult. There are no wheelchair accessible bathrooms once downstairs, though there easily could be and should be per ADA.

    Magical live

by davestwin7 on 4/27/23Blueberry Hill Duck Room - St Louis

I am not really sure how to describe July Talk's style of music. What I can say is that it is so good live. The venue was too small for their sound but it enabled a great view of the interactions. Well worthy to catch in person.

I will never miss a July Talk show again. From beginning to end the audience was enthralled. Band is tight, sounds like the record. Everyone invited agrees.

    Great Band, Poor Venue

by TAYLOR on 4/17/23LONDON MUSIC HALL - London

July Talk put on a great show for those who could see tu hem through the excessive smoke in the overpacked venue. Sound needed adjustment for drowned out vocals but appears there was nobody taking care of that. On the plus side drinks were reasonably priced! Overall, will give July Talk a 5 star review but only 3 stars for London Music Hall.
