About

Jovanotti, Italian superstar and heartthrob, burst onto the music scene in 1988, when his album Jovanotti for President came out and cemented him as a teen idol. His style has evolved from early mixes of hip hop and disco into more nuanced combinations of funk, ska and even classical music. If you catch Jovanotti in concert, you’ll hear him belting out his sexy tunes in Italian and orchestrating dance sets like only an expert DJ knows how to do. He likes to cover his whole catalog, adding in songs from his early work, as well as new favorites. His 2005 tour made a splash with ticket holders in Italy, and he has written and performed some of the most beloved songs in the country. He also recently hit No. 1 on the Italian Top 20 charts with Tutto L’Amore Che Ho.

Born in Rome, Jovanotti developed an interest in music at a very young age and began to make a name for himself as a hip-hop DJ. His big break came when a renowned Italian producer asked him to move to Milan and become a regular DJ on Radio DeeJay. He’s expanded his musical reach to include more of Europe and North America, and his recent compilation designed especially for the U.S. market has made way for a U.S. tour in 2014. Lorenzo 94, Lorenzo 97 - L'albero, Lorenzo 99 - Capo Horn, Lorenzo 2002 - Il Quinto Mondo, Buon Sangue, Safari and Ora all peaked at No.1 on the Federation of Italian Music Industry chart. Jovanotti gained success with his first album Jovanotti for President, with politically-charged hits like “Gimme Five” and "Go Jovanotti Go.” The name Jovanotti is derived from the Italian word for young man, and the music world has seen this young man mature into a full-fledged pro.

    Worth it!

by ozner101 on 10/28/12The GRAMMY Museum - Los Angeles

First of all, I've been following Jovanotti since I went to Italy in 96/97... I know some Italian, and while I can only understand some of the lyrics, the music was great enough to get me to search out a music store in my family's town and buy his CD! As far as the venue... At first I felt like I was duped into buying these tickets, or that I simply hadn't paid attention to the advertisement... I didn't realize it would be an interview of the artist! I thought he was here to put on a concert, lol... But I was sat down and listened, and then he sung 5 or 6 songs acoustically... All I can say now is WELL WORTH IT! What a great way to hear a favorite artists story, and then receive and intimate acoustic live performance!

What a great place to see an artist...the place is about 1/4 the size of a high school auditorium. Jovanotti was gracious, funny, lovely and lyrical...there was a short video, he was interviewed by a moderator, then the audience got to ask questions. He then he played a (too small!) selection of songs acoustically, something he rarely does. That was my only complaint...not nearly enough music!

Jovanotti in Atlanta, what a memorable event!!

    by fra321 on 10/11/12Variety Playhouse - Atlanta

Jovanotti is one of the most loved singers/songwriters in Italy, but he is probably unknown to the American public. Having the chance to attend one of his concerts in Atlanta, and especially one in a small theatre like the Variety where audience and players were pretty much one thing was an unforgettable experience that all of us who were present will cherish for a long time. His music was engaging, genial, at times moving and going straight to the heart. In spite of the small attendance compared to the masses that his concerts always draw in Italy his energy was overflowing and the result was an amazing performance. The audience was ecstatic and everybody left hoping we will start seeing more of him around here. Thank you Jovanotti!!!
