About

Joshua Radin grew up listening to classic Motown hits of the ‘60s, The Beatles, Paul Simon, James Taylor and Cat Stevens, influences which were to play a big part in his future career. He studied art at Northwestern University before moving to New York, buying a guitar and teaching himself how to play it and write songs.

His big break come in 2004 when he presented a copy of his very first song “Winter” to a TV producer by the name of Zach Braff with whom he eventually became close friends. He was so impressed he used it as a soundtrack on a scene in the comedy TV series Scrubs in 2004. After this exposure, demand grew for his work and soon his compositions were featuring in hit TV shows such as Brothers and Sisters, Grey's Anatomy, One Tree Hill and American Idol. In total he has written more than 75 songs which have been featured on TV.

He relocated to Los Angeles, signed with Columbia Records and released his first album We Were Here in 2006. It was received enthusiastically by fans and music critics alike receiving a four-star Rolling Stone review and achieving No. 1 position on iTunes Folk Album Chart. His second album Simple Times was released in 2008 under the Mom & Pop label and reached No. 34 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. His most successful single from the album “I'd Rather Be With You” reached No. 2 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart. He released his third album The Rock and The Tide in October 2010 and achieved similar levels of chart and critical success, with it reaching No. 5 on the Billboard Independent Chart. His most recent album Underwater was released in 2012.

Radin has played with many musical greats both during his extensive touring career as well as on his popular albums. Guest performers have included Sheryl Crow, Tori Amos, Gary Jules, Belmont Tench, Jim Keltner, Johnny Flagher, Jason Borger, Victor Indrizzo, Lenny Castro, Maria Taylor and Patty Griffin among others. He has also written soundtracks for hit movies including The Nanny Diaries, Catch and Release, Dakota Sky and The Last Kiss. He is in demand for personal appearances on TV shows and, most famously, after appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, was asked to perform at her wedding.

    Great venue and great artist

by MDP on 3/21/22Birchmere - Alexandria

I’ve seen Joshua play before and I’ve seen several shows at the Birchmere…hard combo to beat! Outstanding show at a great venue. Joshua is such a great storyteller and he seems to be truly in his happy place performing and telling his stories. I’ll see him play every chance I get as each show is unique.

    Great performance

by Flash on 3/21/22Birchmere - Alexandria

He was a great talent. Very personal and seemed to be enjoying himself on stage. His voice was really displayed in the encore. Loved his songs as was the first time I had seen him in concert. Will go again.

    Engaged Performer

by AP on 3/8/22High Noon Saloon - Madison

Refreshing to have a stripped down performance with a guy and his guitar (initially). He did bring up two backup singers, one of whom played guitar as well. Joshua thanked the audience several times for our surprising attentiveness, and engaged us in keeping the beat on several songs. This was my first show indoors, without a mask, in over two years. It was perfect! COVID precautions at the venue seemed sincere as well.

    In person is so satisfying!

by Katie on 2/27/22Neptune Theatre - Seattle

It was so great to be back in a live venue to enjoy our favorite singer/songwriter! Joshua’s show was marvelous, and the group who is on tour with him: Tow’rs, another gem. We so enjoyed their set and have new music to add to our favorites💝 Thank you, Neptune, for all the safety procedures, and the warm welcome.

Headliner only sang for 50 minutes

by Mr C on 11/6/19The Wilbur - Boston

We went to see Joshua Radin the headliner. He came on first for some reason and sang for about 50 minutes before leaving for the night. Then the rest of the night, the “opening act” played on stage. Very disappointed.

    Great show, great seats!

Really nice venue. Wonderful acoustics. Seating is a little crowded, but this was a fairly mellow show, so not a big problem.

    Disappointed

    by 4toCome on 11/6/19The Wilbur - Boston

Given how this show was marketed, it said "Featuring Joshua Radin and the Weepies" and had a large picture of Joshua Radin, we assumed he was the headliner. Therefore, we showed up around 8:15 when the show started at 7pm, assuming he would go on around then. We missed Joshua Radin almost entirely. It was not clear the Weepies were the headliners and we had no interest in them. Therefore, we paid for the tickets and didn't even see the show, we were highly disappointed. I believe the title and marketing should have been laid out differently.
