    False advertising

by Anonymous on 4/3/18Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

It is fine when a show is adapted, but it should be made clear prior to purchase of tickets. We brought our three year old to the show expecting a kid friendly afternoon but were surprised to find a very not family friendly show. We were extremely upset that we were not informed ahead of time that this was an adaptation that was not meant for all ages, as the original Joseph is. If we had known we would not have brought our daughter.

What happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas

by Mamster2008 on 4/2/18Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

What happens in Vegas should stay in Vegas and so should this show. Very disappointed in the changes made to the original Broadway show. My husband and I walked out 20 minutes after the start of the show. The director turned a very family friendly musical into a Burlesque show. The talent was great, but wasted on this very disappointing plot.

    Joseph and the dream coat

by KimmyDiva on 4/2/18Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

If you are interested in the Biblical portrayal of this musical this is NOT it!!! I paid a nice amount of money to have a delightful treat only to be disappointed by the story line. The actors were good BUT the deception of what the play was to be was disappointing.

    Joseph was Fabulous

by Anonymous on 3/31/18Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

The show was so good, we saw it three times! The cast and crew were amazing. Cristina Bianco as the Narrator, with all her impersonations, was unbelievable.

I had seen Joseph many years ago and always loved the music and story. This was such a modern view that I loved it. Those who were in the production were so very talented and did such a professional job that I was very impressed.

Nothing more than a good high school performance

by AndrewLloydWebberPurist on 3/28/18Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

This show had the none of the elements that a Andrew Lloyd Webber purist like myself would expect. It lacked all the emotion, drama, and focus on the main character that characterize Andrew LLoyd Webber's shows. This version was merely entertainment. On top of that the sound system was so bad that it was almost impossible to hear the words in the songs. Finally the performances were mediocre.

    Disgusting

by bashfull on 3/28/18Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I am more than upset and frustrated about this play. We walked out during intermission. I wanted to see the true story of Joseph and not this modern day story. It was not family friendly. It was very sexualized and seeing men in women's Las Vegas clothing was very upsetting. I pass no judgments on how people choose to live because it is their right to choose. I'm upset because it was supposed to be about the account of Joseph in biblical times. We should have been notified that it was not the real Joseph story. I will never go to another play without checking the reviews.

No No No Joseph is the right song

by Saxman34 on 3/28/18Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I purchased tickets to the show before it opened and was shocked to see the production that was put on. Yes, it was the music from the original show however, the entire thing was set in modern-day times taking place in Las Vegas. To me, this was a mockery of the original show. I did not appreciate taking my 12-year-old son to see the show that I thought we were going to see only to see a production that was full of celebrity impersonator‘s and showgirls. There were no messages in advertising from the theater that this was not the original show. I found out from a friend that they went to see a show at the same theater that was far more adult themed that the original show they saw in Vegas. Be very wary of attending any productions at this theater. And I opinion, they are going down the wrong path and I deceiving their audiences.

    A Very Different Joseph

by BDODLO1 on 3/28/18Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

If you are longing to see the traditional musical that you have come to love, this rendition of Joseph might not be for you. With a high degree of creativity, Drury Lane delivers a production of Joseph unlike any other. It is bound to leave you torn between the musical you love and the amazing imagination that dreamed up this twist on the story. Whether you like this version or not, it is hard to not to appreciate the talent of the cast. The vocal and instrumental performances are stellar, the choreography is captivating and the use of technology brings everything together. But this is a very different Joseph--one you may or may not like. And for that reason I give it 3 stars.

    It was awful!

by Grez207 on 3/28/18Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace - Oakbrook Terrace

I could not believe that Drury Lane would take a classic and turn it into a sleaze fest. Having seen the original version of Joseph, I was thinking this version would be comparable. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Las Vegas setting, the changing of Joseph to Joe, and the Go Go Go Joseph number with Joseph and the other characters in show girl outfits including high heels were borderline sacrilege. My mouth was open in disgust throughout the performance, I would have walked out as did several people, but my sister paid for the tickets. If you ever saw the original, don't waste your time on this remake. You will be sorely disappointed.
