Was a great comedy show and definitely one of the more original bits I'd seen in a while.

    I remember Jon being funnier...

by MrNumber9 on 4/27/12Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Unfortunately, I have to preface this review by saying how much of a fan I am of H Jon Benjamin; Home Movies, Archer, Bob' s Burgers, and his multitude of cameos in Family Guy, ATHF, etc, etc, it really goes on and on. But I was disappointed with this live show. There were definitely funny parts, but all and all I felt let down afterward. He would have been better off doing more skits and a question and answer session then doing stand up sets with some pretty unfunny people. Having Jonathan Katz come out was a nice surprise, but he's not really a stand up and a show with a bunch of drunk people from Boston isn't really his scene. I think if Jon evolves the idea the tour could be much, much better.

Well, he gave us the voice of "Archer," so...

by FitchFY on 4/27/12Brighton Music Hall - Boston

In short, I expected better out of a comedic brain like Jon's. His delivery and articulation is sublime - why else would we all love his work? - and I was even a fan of his irreverent humor he showed in "Jon Benjamin Has a Van." But I guess I have to say that stand-up comedy is not his strength... at all. Maybe he was drunk, high, nervous, or a combination of the three, but it took him 5 minutes to set up a joke and deliver it. In honesty, his three special guests all out-performed him, and I feel like had the 90 minute show been condensed to a 30 minute "best of reel," it would have been significantly better. I love Jon Benjamin, his voice work, his writing, and his acting, but not everyone can translate that into stand-up comedy. I'll still watch and support almost anything he does, though - the man IS very funny.

    How about it sucked?

by AbsolutelyNot on 4/26/12Brighton Music Hall - Boston

The entire show was extremely low-budget and ineffective. It opened with some random woman doing bad karaoke, Jon Benjamin joining her shortly towards the end. He told some mostly boring stories/bad stand-up, made a bunch of bad homophobic remarks, then brought up to the stage the least funny person from his show "Jon Benjamin Has A Tour", Nathan Fielder. He was even worse, doing some lame backstory about saying he was from Boston with an accent that was clearly Canadian. He showed some bad music video he and his friends made that had nothing to do with anything. JB came back on-stage, they did some predictably terrible improv involving rape, and that was it. The worst show I ever paid $20+ for. Charlie Sheen's tour last year was streets ahead of this crapfest.
