JOHNNYSWIM IN CONCERT:
For nearly a decade, Nashville-based folk and blues duo Johnnyswim has been captivating concertgoers with their bluegrass-influenced guitar strumming, soulful harmonica riffs, and pitch-perfect harmonies. At their live shows the pair deliver their boot-stomping tracks with plenty of energy and starry-eyed wonder, making for a feel-good concert experience that's sure to please. From the driving beat of "Home" to the soaring vocal interplay of "Diamonds", Johnnyswim treats fans to a vibrant and dynamic live show that perfectly matches the exuberance of their stirring sound.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Johnnyswim was formed in Nashville in 2005 by singer Amanda Sudano and singer-songwriter Abner Ramirez. Sudano boasts a first-rate musical pedigree -- the daughter of disco icon Donna Summer, she grew up touring the world with her mother as a backup singer. She began working with Ramirez after attending a songwriter seminar he hosted in 2005, and the rest is history. They released their self-titled debut EP in 2008, and in 2009 they got married. Following a tour in India that benefitted orphan children, Johnnyswim released the 2012 EP Home, Vol. 1, which they supported with appearances on The Tonight Show and the radio variety program A Prairie Home Companion. In 2014 Johnnyswim released their debut full-length Diamonds, a stellar collection of tunes that has fans eager to catch them on their upcoming tour dates.
JOHNNYSWIM was a great show and the venue at the JOY theater was perfect for them! Couldn't have asked for a better combo! Their opener was perfect and a great length as well. I hope they come back to New Orleans soon!
Last Tuesday, I treated my wife to an evening at The Joy, where we witnessed the extraordinary talent of JohnnySwim. Despite the late hour, I soldiered on, determined to savor every moment. And oh, how grateful I am that I did! It's hard to say what moved me more profoundly. Was it the awe-inspiring synergy and chemistry between Abner and Amanda, emanating effortlessly from the stage? Or perhaps it was the sheer authenticity and fervor that resonated in Abner's melodic voice, capturing both his musical prowess and his heartfelt convictions. And let us not forget the sheer richness and beauty that emanated from Amanda's voice, evoking memories of her mother's own vocal prowess. In fact, her performance compelled me to immediately indulge in the enchanting melody of MacArthur Park upon leaving the concert. Yet, the pinnacle of the evening arrived when the couple's children graced the stage, their youthful innocence adding an extra layer of magic to the already enchanting atmosphere. The way Luna gazed up at her father as he strummed his guitar, the way Paloma clung to her mother, reluctant to bid the night farewell and surrender to sleep, and the way Joaquin reveled in the carefree bliss of a typical nine-year-old boy, oblivious to the world around him. Just moments before, Joaquin had stood at the side of the stage, a silent witness to his parents' remarkable journey, as they breathed life into their dreams. Truly, it was an evening of pure enchantment. My wife and I wholeheartedly agreed that we must experience the full grandeur of JohnnySwim's performance with their complete band. Once again, I must express my profound gratitude for sharing this unforgettable experience with both my wife and the remarkable duo that is JohnnySwim.
District Live is very cool. This event was SRO, which is difficult for older folks, but it was worth it.
We had so much fun hearing the stories behind different songs, and of course, the music was amazing. Such a fun, laid back, incredible show!

Johnnyswim was great! Love the music, love the way they played with the audience. The Fillmore prices were crazy….going from $35 for SRO to $85 for “VIP” SRO which was basically one row in front of a private bar (which was no big deal because the other bars weren’t crowded) and behind two rows of seating. So…I asked how much more for a seat. $80-$90 each! Explains why so many were empty.
Johnnyswim is unmatched. They are absolutely phenomenal in every way. It’s not just about the music and their incredible voices, it’s about community. They interact with you and create the best environment. I will go see them every single time, multiple times if I can. My favorite band forever!!
Johnnyswim puts on one of the best shows around. They interact with the audience, play their music (which sounds like their records), and give you something to dance to. They have music for everyone and every situation in your life! This was my second time seeing them and I can’t wait to see them again!
