About

John Pinette has been entertaining audiences around the world in a variety of ways for over twenty years, but it is making people laugh that John enjoys most of all. When asked to describe his stand-up, John Pinette says, "I talk about my life, it is the funniest thing I can think of. For some reason, people enjoy seeing me lose by cherub like demeanor".  John was named Stand-Up Comedian of the Year by the American Comedy Awards in 1999 and received a Gemini Award nomination for his superb televised performance at The Montreal Comedy Festival in 2000. His hit Comedy Central Special and DVD entitled "I'm Starvin'" was released in January of 2007 as a follow up to his enormously successful CD ‘Show Me The Buffet'.

Born just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, John has always had a gift for making people laugh. When he learned that he could actually make a living doing so, John left behind his life as an accountant and began his comedy career.  It wasn't long before he was touring comedy clubs around the country. Shortly thereafter, John got his big break when he was asked to tour with Frank Sinatra.  Since then he has made multiple guest stand-up comedy appearances on television shows such as The Tonight Show, The Dr. Phil Show, and The View.

John has also enjoyed a long acting career in television, film, and stage. He starred on Broadway playing the role of ‘Edna Turnblad' in the hit musical ‘Hairspray' and has appeared in such films as Duets, starring Gwenyth Paltrow, Dear God, starring Greg Kinnear, Junior, starring Arnold Schwarzeneger and The Punisher starring John Travolta. He was a series regular on the hit series Parker Lewis Can't Lose, and starred as the car-jack victim in the final episode of Seinfeld.  John is currently filming The Last Godfather starring opposite Harvey Keitel.

John Pinette March 30th Brea CA

by RJinLA on 4/10/14Improv - Brea

I saw John Pinette for the third time on March 30th at the Improv in Brea CA. He was HILARIOUS...again! He was able make you laugh without having to drop F-Bombs. There are very few comedians nowadays that can do that. Unfortunately, it turned out to be his final appearance. RIP John!! It's time to make God laugh!!

    He looked sick

    by Bill432 on 12/22/13Wilbur Theatre - Boston

The show wasn't that good. He looked sick. He kept forgetting what he was going to say. He was losing his voice. He was sitting in a chair wearing slippers during the whole show.

    John Pinette in Boston

by HerbGardenLady on 12/15/13Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I have loved John Pinette from the first time I saw a video of his act and couldn't wait to see him live. I was somewhat disappointed with his performance which ended up being bits and pieces of his other acts with no coherence. John was obviously having a difficult time dealing with health issues which he told the audience about and which caused him to have to remain seated for the entire performance, plus he was also suffering from laryngitis. His train of thought jumped from one topic to another then back to the first with no real flow to his stories and jokes. Although he was still funny, he seemed to have an edginess that I was not used to and that made me sad. He dropped the "F-Bomb" pretty regularly which was uncomfortable and unnecessary. Occasionally, the John we love showed through with a twinkle in his eye or those wonderful expressions. I will definitely go see him again when he returns to the Boston area but will check out his latest reviews to see how he is doing health-wise first.

    Thanks, John!

by SDUC on 12/13/13Wilbur Theatre - Boston

John had laryngitis and was battling the gout. And he still performed, and he made us all laugh. Enough said. A true trooper. Thanks for the fun times, John!

John Pinette needs more time to heal

by eggnog1 on 12/12/13Hyatt Regency Newport - Newport

I love John Pinette---as a comedian, he is brilliant and hilarious, and he seems like a wonderful human being; however, it was sad to see him obviously impaired with his recent health woes--he had to sit during the show and his voice wasn't steadily strong--this contrasts sharply with his image of the robust and loud comedian--also WE COULD NOT SEE A THING with his sitting, hence missing all of his wonderful facial expressions. would have stayed home instead of going out on freezing cold night---feeling annoyed.

John looked like an old man...

    by Scottw30 on 12/12/13Wilbur Theatre - Boston

I was very excited for this show. I brought my girlfriend and two other friends. I kept saying how funny John was. The opener, Dan Smith I think his name was, was very good. Funny and engaging. John came out in slippers and could barely walk. He had laryngitis and the gout, he informed us. There were moments of amusement but I felt more pity for this poor guy than anything else. He should not be doing shows in this condition. Is it that he needs the money that badly? This show should have been cancelled. I only paid $50 a ticket but the quality of the show didn't come anywhere near what I paid for it. My friends boyfriend fell asleep. Also, the drinks at the Wilbur were off the chart expensive. With tip, my friend paid over $70 for 4 drinks. I didn't know that till after we left. I won't be going back there, ever. Get well soon John. I hope to see you in the future when you are more yourself.

    Great as always

by thedarkestknight on 12/12/13Hyatt Regency Newport - Newport

John is always funny. The show was a little confusing with the venue change and a switch to general seating and I think the venue had a difficult time handling valet and parking but once it got going it was great. John was on his game as always. He's had some health issues and in true John form discussed them in a comedic way. We wish him speedy recovery and health so we can go again and again to see him!

    Funny but he seemed tired

    by aw2bad4u on 12/11/13Wilbur Theatre - Boston

Wasn't as "on" as on TV shows I've seen, funny nonetheless. Very expensive drinks!
