A history lesson on the USA

by MisterDigger on 8/21/17Hard Rock Live - Biloxi

It had been 10 years since I last saw Steppenwolf and a good cheap seat was available about two weeks in advance. This time around, there were video screens to go along with the music. John Kay looks as healthy as can be with his voice in top form after fronting his band for 50 years. His explanations in between songs also added to the experience. The newer songs were also good and they played all of the old favorites that I came to hear.

    John Kay & Steppenwolf

by 504david on 8/21/17Hard Rock Live - Biloxi

The venue was great, sound was very good and the band was amazing. Loved hearing the old songs, but not enough of them. We enjoyed the synchronized singing with the old videos.

    Howl of the Wolf

by JRUSSE on 8/15/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

This was an outstanding performance in a perfect setting. Steppenwolf gets better with age, as all fine wine.

It was a great concert. John Kay did a good job. The video of Steppenwolf in the background back in the day was a nice touch.

Steppenwolf is still alive and kicking!

by HAWKWINDFAN on 8/12/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Steppenwolf has always been one of my favorite bands since the early '70s. After 50 years of performing, John Kay still has the voice and the timing and better songs than most of the current bands that started playing in this century.

John Kay and Steppenwolf were incredible

by AfellowWolfpacker on 8/12/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

I have been a fan of John Kay and Steppenwolf for 49 years. Their concerts are always the best, but this one was the 50 anniversary of the band and it was off the charts! Loved every minute. The sound in the Ryman is amazing and there really isn't a bad seat in the house!! Great show!!!! They sound as good now as they did the first time I saw them in 1970!!!! They were showing films from concerts back in the 70's and 80's and they were right in sinc, they haven't slowed down or lost their touch at all. Loved it!!!!!!!!!!

John Kay is the ultimate entertainer, an awesome guitarist, and a singer with few equals. The music was great, the band was outstanding, and John made the audience feel appreciated, welcome, and special.

Steppenwolf celebrates at the Ryman Auditorium

    by kobiwon007 on 8/9/17Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Steppenwolf came to the Ryman Auditorium to celebrate 50 years in the music industry. The music was timeless and the band's performance was tight and sharp. John Kay started the evening with a solo performance. Then, he was joined by the band to continue with such classics as "Ride with Me," "Born to be Wild," "Magic Carpet Ride," The Pusher," and more. In the middle of the concert alumni Michael Monarch, Larry Byrom, Bobby Cochran, Steve and Michael Palmer were introduced on stage to take a bow in recognition for their contributions to the band. I was lucky to be there. The music was fantastic. And the acoustics in the Ryman were amazing. They say there is no bad seat in the house. And I believe them.
