Beautiful and creative
Auditorium Theatre - Chicago
I think Joffrey Ballet is a world class dance company, Unique Voices composed of three completely different dance pieces, by three very talented choreographers, all which were wonderful and engaging. I can't wait to see their next performance!

Truly Unique Experience!
Auditorium Theatre - Chicago
Unique Voices was ... well, fantastic! I had forgotten how much I loved ballet until these tickets appeared in my hands and I was sitting in that balcony watching. The Joffrey did a fantastic job with the staging, the music choices, and the pairing of the dancers. I brought a friend with me, and we were talking the whole time before the lights went out. The complete tunnel vision that consumes you is unforgettable. You can go out in a group to an orchestra show, or something with theater and enjoy it. But at the Ballet, you are completely on your own. You forget those friends sitting by you and all that matters are the dancers and yourself.

The Joffrey's Unique Voices was outstanding!!
Auditorium Theatre - Chicago
My daughter and I went to see the Joffrey Ballet's Unique Voices at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago Saturday night. The show was just incredible and so enjoyable. We just loved what the Joffrey did onstage. It was ballet as I had never seen it before (one of the 3 acts was ballet dancers in black cowboy boots with Johnny Cash music as an accompaniment!) It was thrilling to see such creative and innovative ballet. We are still talking about it days later! It was truly excellent!

1 of 3 performances was great
Auditorium Theatre - Chicago
We love seeing the Joffrey, but were disappointed in this one. The opening performance was outstanding, interesting, and lively but after that things kind of fell apart. The second performance was set to 6 different Johnny Cash songs which we were very excited about. Unfortunately the songs and dances were all very similar and kind of boring. Think three guys in black and one woman with a country-ish red dress doing modern square dancing. The third act was fun and funny but didn't really have that much dancing to it. Sorry Joffrey, maybe next time.

Unique Voices - breathtakingly beautiful
Auditorium Theatre - Chicago
An exquisite trio of performances. I was thrilled with the first piece with choreography by Australian Stanton Welch and music by an Australian composer. I have seen Stanton's parents both dance with the Australian Ballet and Stanton too. It was intriguing, lyrical, and has left me with vivid beautiful images. The Johnny Cash piece was outstanding and remarkable. Quiet, soft, unpretentious, with new moves, new rhythms, and showing the joy, pathos, and struggles in subtle ways without shouting which added to the power of the piece - just like Johnny Cash's music. And the Tulle I adored. Quirky, happy, fun, and yet showing the complexity of ballet. I loved the set especially with the hydraulic stage at the front and the higher level at the back. I'm not sure earnest American audiences give themselves permission to laugh and enjoy pieces like this. Take it to Australia and it would be wildly applauded. The whole company sneezing in unison was unforgettable. I'm so grateful I travelled from Indianapolis for this event even though the Megabus journeys were cancelled at the last minute so I drove instead.

Auditorium Theatre - Chicago
I really enjoyed this show. It was my first show at the Auditorium Theatre, which is beautiful theatre! The show had three different acts/scenes and they were completely different from each other but still amazing. I have recommended it to other people and I would love to see it again

Uniques Voices - wonderful show
Auditorium Theatre - Chicago
Great show - all three sets were done with precision. I attended with two others and this was one of the best shows we have seen in a long time. We are now fans of ballet. The Auditorium Theater is a beautiful place.

Beautiful performances with a unique twist on typical ballet. Highly recommended!
Maninyas
Choreographer: Stanton Welch
Music: Ross Edwards
Contemporary in design and abstract in
nature, Maninyas is a powerful, exotic
and passionate ballet that explores the
sometimes frightening process of revealing
oneself layer by layer in a relationship.
The Man in Black
Choreographer: James Kudelka
Music: Johnny Cash
Six of Cash’s later songs are given visual
resonance in a suite of dances for an
ensemble of dancers, all in cowboy boots. The choreography riffs off several popular American country-western dance styles.

.
Featuring the full Joffrey company, voiceover
commentary and three large onstage
LED screens, this is a ballet about ballet. Part
