Choreography missed the mark…
by CAfromMich on 10/26/15Auditorium Theatre - ChicagoAs a musician, I feel that Delibes wrote his ballet music picturing in his head classic ballet of his time. The music was gorgeous in this performance, the dancing wonderful as usual. But to ignore what the music was telling the dancers to do and to have them dangling their arms, sticking angular arms and legs into the air, rolling on the floor and failing to interpret the music left me cold. I wish I could see what the early choreography in Paris did with this music. The horn hunting calls and the dancing of the huntresses was a high point. Is this progress in choreography??
