    Amazing Dance!

    by Steve090 on 2/23/16Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

I'm no expert on dance, but this was one of the most enjoyable performances I've seen. The live orchestra music was excellent, especially the violin. It complemented the dance very well. The style was mostly contemporary, and it was pretty emotional. The last dance was a bit on the sad side. These dances were fairly abstract and to me, they were more about making me feel and contemplate, than telling a story (except for the last dance, fairly clear story). I'm sure I'm doing a terrible job at describing this, but it's hard to put it into words. Innovative, cutting edge, aesthetically wonderful. Overall - this is a performance I'd gladly watch again.

    Joffrey's RakU has transformative power

by sometimedancer on 2/22/16Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

The Joffrey's RakU has a transformative power even beyond the perfect set, exquisite dancing and story telling of Victoria Jaiani and superior Fabrice Calmels. Their lines, finesse, bravery were otherworldly and appreciated beyond words......ineffable. The beautifully danced Forgotten Land ballet perhaps didn't really care if it was difficult to follow the too subtle costume pairings and how and when they switched and then changed back. So interchangeable somehow. Tipping Point could be conceptual, or maybe expressionistic or whatever, but some of the choreographic tableaux need finishing. From opening night to the last performance, the ballet did advance beautifully.

    The title says it all!

by LisPD on 2/17/16Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

What a beautiful landscape: the set, costumes, dancers, music. All created a beautiful engaging experience. Kudos! And to think we experienced it during theater week. Our family was blessed to get tickets at that price. I would have certainly paid full price to see this show. A masterpiece.

    Disappointed

    by Kathy45967 on 2/17/16Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

When I go to see the JoffreyI expect to see ballet. If I wanted to see modern dance with no point work I would have bought tickets to Alvin Alley or Hubbard Street. I have seen many of their other more contemporary dances and still felt like I say a ballet. Not this one.

by Anonymous on 2/16/16Auditorium Theatre - Chicago

From staging to costumes to music but most of all to the dancing on display, this is an evening of ballet you must not miss. I just hope they make the video of it available for purchase soon!
