    50/50

    by gbaker3000 on 11/4/14F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

The show was a 50/50 performance. I only enjoyed 3 out of 6 performances. It seems that someone always cancels and they throw in somebody else that doesn't meet your criteria. For some reason the music is always louder than the vocals and in our era that wasn't the case. I like to hear the words. Being partially deaf this is meaningful to me. Would I see that particular show again? NO.

    Chubby Checker was unbelievable!

    by mamm on 5/29/14F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

I've heard Lou Christie before; heard the Duprees many times- was a little disappointed that Jay Black was not available; however, have never heard Chubby Checker - so thought - why not?!? UNBELIEVABLE!!! I would go see any entire evening of Chubby! He was fabulous! 73 years young - the man did not stop!!!!! He made the evening! Go the audience participating! Just an all around awesome show!

    Chubby Checkers was the Best!

    by Pillowtalk on 5/20/14F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

You could not have picked a better replacement for Jay Black. Chubby Checkers was fantastic. The show was great and then to have Chubby come out after the show to meet and greet was great. Please bring him back for another show. I bet it will be a sell out.

    Great night out!

    by Hideout on 5/20/14F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

The Kirby Center was a nice place to see an oldies show. The theater was renovated, comfortable seating, and theater personnel were very polite and accommodating. The venue is located opposite a public square(park) in the middle of town with plenty of stores and places to eat before the show. The show was excellent, although I was disappointed that Jay Black was ill and cancelled the day before. Many people I spoke with were also disappointed that Jay Black didn't perform. But as a replacement was Chubby Checker he was fantastic. He had the crowd dancing in the aisles all night. He really knows how to work the crowd and encourage their participation. I don't think anyone was disappointed. The opening act was Lou Christie who still sounded great. The second act were the Dupree's all of which had excellent voices and harmony. Excellent show would go again.

    Doo-Wop Rocked

    by Francesca1948 on 5/20/14F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

Loved that the show started on time (7 p.m.). Sad that Jay Black was ill, hope he's ok. Very nice that Chubby Checker came to the rescue. Lou Christie showed he could still hit those high octaves! Amazing! The Duprees were 'OK"...I don't consider them Doo-Wop since they're genre are ballads. Think they were out of the element when they started singing songs from the 1930's and 1940's. To me that was boring. Can't wait to see WVIA to hear what acts will be performing in November.

    WOW

    by JCGRIER24 on 5/20/14F. M. Kirby Center - Wilkes-Barre

Every performer for this event was awesome. The older performers still have what it takes! The newer generations will never have the longevity! Chubby Checker has such good audience rapport and participation!
