About

Joan Jett grew up during a time when rock 'n' roll was off limits to girls and women, but as a teenager, she promptly blasted the door to the boys' club right off its hinges. After forming her band the Blackhearts in 1979, with whom Jett has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock 'N' Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson and Clover." With a career that has spanned music, film, television, Broadway, and humanitarianism, Joan Jett remains a potent force and inspiration to generations of fans worldwide. As a producer, she has overseen seminal albums by Bikini Kill, and the Germs' LA punk masterpiece 'GI.' Jett and Kenny Laguna (her longtime producer and music partner) co-founded Blackheart Records from the trunk of Kenny's Cadillac after rejections from no less than 23 labels. 40 years later, Blackheart is a thriving entertainment company producing music, film and television, and continues to champion emerging bands. Joan Jett and the Blackhearts continue to tour the world with headlining shows and alongside fellow rock legends like The Who, Green Day, Heart, Foo Fighters and Alanis Morrissette (Summer 2024). 'Bad Reputation,' a documentary about Jett's life, premiered to critical acclaim at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Following up on the band's 2022 release Changeup, their first-ever acoustic album, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts' EP Mindsets was released as a Record Store Day First vinyl piece on 11/24/23. Mindsets is available to stream now.

    Amazing

    by Hailey on 3/27/24

Joan Jett is absolutely one of my idols, I’ve seen her twice now and both times were amazing. Yes it was a short show (both times) but that doesn’t take away from how amazing of a performance she puts on. My only complaint is the crowd. I am only 21 and have a bit of an older music taste, I was definitely one of the youngest people in the crowd. I just wanted to get up, dance around and jam out and everyone around me was sitting being boring. It’s rock people, rock out.

    Couldn't have been worse

by Sam on 9/14/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

No warm up band. Joan Jett played for only an hour and 20 minutes. Forgot words and left out verses to songs. She was really good 45 years ago. Might want to think about retirement.

Had Trouble Hearing Joan Jett Herself

by Davew on 9/12/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

It was a decent concert but not the best concert I've been to by far. The biggest issue? I don't know if it was the venue's equipment or the band's or what but the star of the show, Joan Jett, was barely audible at times. We weren't that far from the stage... granted we were to the far left, basically right next to the door (near the stage) where the band roadies (and I think a groupie or two) would go in and out of, but not thaaat far at all. Yet when Joan would speak between songs we couldn't make a word of it out and her singing was drowned out. Maybe she needs a better mixer, or maybe whatever gear she was plugged into wasn't doing it that night. Also: If you're going to Harrah's just to see a show and not gamble... and especially not stay the night... make good and well sure you know how to get back to where your vehicle is parked, because none of the workers seemed to know exactly which parking garage we were in when we asked directions even though we plainly told them exactly which one. I suspect some of these people may just sleep out in the lobby as they themselves are not sure how to make it back to their vehicles.

Would rather hear all hits starting out…not towards the end

by Ksue on 9/12/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

Great venue. They are great but wanted to hear hits in the beginning ( as The Eagles, and Pat Benatar , Styx and Air Supply do.

    Still Rocking Hard

by Barb on 9/12/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

Joan Jett is rocking as hard now as she was back in the early 80s when I fell in love with her music and stage presence. She needs no opening acts and goes full throttle for an hour and a half with no breaks. Not many artists today can do that. Rock on Joan!

    Bad Guitar

by Ms. B on 9/12/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

That is one bad female guitar player. She played old songs and a couple of new ones. It was very enjoyable and everyone seem to enjoy her.

    Was expecting more.

by HR on 9/12/23Harrah's Cherokee Resort Event Center - Cherokee

Being the only act on the night we expected more than a 70 minute set with no encore. House lights came up the minute she walked off stage with no chance for encore. Disappointing given the ticket price for solo act.
