Lucky to be in the room, but...

by TruthHurtsSoGood on 12/4/14The Theatre at Ace Hotel - Los Angeles

It was an interesting conversation and fun to hear Jimmy Page give personal anecdotes to the photos Chris Cornell chose for him to expound upon. Definitely a unique event I was delighted to score tickets to last minute. But COME ON... you have these two musical legends on stage together and they didn't perform ONE song together? Such a missed opportunity. And really, it was an ironic commentary on how the music industry has its artists in such shackles that the red tape ($$$) to do such a thing was probably impossible to consider such a performance -- basically choking the creative freedom and experimentation that made Led Zeppelin and Soundgarden possible in their early days. Sad.

    Couldn't hear the converasation

by thewers on 11/17/14The Theatre at Ace Hotel - Los Angeles

I attended the Weds event. My seat was in the lower level, Row Z, seat 10-12. The theater is beautiful and the concept was intriguing. I'd being looking for an appealing event so I could see the theater. One big problem...I could not hear the interview. I alerted the sound man three times but it didn't approve. Every time I approached the sound man, he looked overwhelmed and frantic. I finally gave up and was only able to decipher about 10% of the conversation. The problem was the lavalier microphones being used were not enough to capture the discussion. There should have been ambient microphones to pick up more of the conversation. The sound man was very amateurish. I paid $125 a seat and was very disappointed.

It was Jimmy Page for God's sake...

by tveye67 on 11/15/14The Theatre at Ace Hotel - Los Angeles

It was great to hear Jimmy speak about various photographs of him throughout his life. A photographic journey. The book that we were given was amazing! I'd be pissed if I paid for the $1,200 version because with Jimmy's stamp along with the date of the event the book we got is still pretty cool. As an owner of three Genesis books I know it's not the same quality but you can get one of these from them for $80.00 and it's an absolute steal!

    Amazing Stories

by MerrittislandMIKE on 11/15/14The Theatre at Ace Hotel - Los Angeles

At times the crowd had to remember they were not sold tickets to see Led Zeppelin and no matter how many hoots and howls were shouted. It was about an incredible journey by one of the greatest guitarist known (although hearing that made this modest man very uncomfortable). For almost 2 hours Jimmy Page spoke extremely well and from his heart on matters spanning his first band and guitar, to the recording sessions and playing with the Yardbirds, to what most were wanting to hear about the Led Zeppelin years and stories. I don't think anyone was left wanting. The book we received is fantastic (a great souvenir, especially for the lucky ones to get it signed (I was not that lucky nor do I know what I would say to a legend like that). My favorite story was how he explained that with the passing of John Bohnam, a group made up of 25% extreme talent from each member just could not go on. A controversial and gutsy move but from the reaction of the audience it appeared to be the right one. There will be no other Led Zeppelin..... I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to listen to the man after hearing his music for years.

    The Best Weeknight in Ages!

by SandsofKashmir on 11/15/14The Theatre at Ace Hotel - Los Angeles

It's not often if ever you get to experience up close human discussion and dialogue with an icon. Granted, I'd love to see Jimmy play but this is another way of wxperiencing him as person rather than a performer where he takes on another persona. It' was light conversation and of course there were no annoying "will you ever reunite" queries. One tacky audience member joked about the age of the queen as perhaps a slam on a previous Laisson that Jimmy shared with a young lady whose gone on to enjoy a successful fashion career and seems to have nothing but good thoughts about her encounters with the legend. In any event, it was classy, including the Genesis book, a cloth bag to tote it about and more. The venue was an amazing, restored venue and I'll be back for shows there as well as anything Jimmy Page related. The man, the music, his innovation, creativity and ingenuity on stage, recording and producing as well as assembling the one and only force of four symbols is something to celebrate and it's better when he's there than all of the albums and downloads around.

A rare and amazing evening with Jimmy Page!

by Anonymous on 11/15/14The Theatre at Ace Hotel - Los Angeles

To begin with the Theatre at Ace Hotel is a beautiful venue. The lovingly restored picture palace located in downtown LA was a lovely setting for this rare event. Chris Cornell did an excellent job as the interviewer for the evening. He set the tone for the conversation with his easy manner with Mr. Page, while at the same time gently reminding the sometimes boisterous crowd that it was important to remain quiet while the "honored guest" was speaking. Cornell had pulled several photos from Page's book, "Jimmy Page by Jimmy Page." For some photos Cornell had prepared questions, and at other times he just let Jimmy talk about the context of the setting or why the photo was chosen for the book. It was a dream night for any die-hard Led Zeppelin fan.

    Once in a lifetime event

by TheOriginalRockinRobin on 11/15/14The Theatre at Ace Hotel - Los Angeles

Jimmy Page sits down with fellow guitarist Chris Cornell in a Q and A about his life through pictures selected from his book. The Ace Theater was the third star as the venue is spectacular. Attendies receive the book, and the event was first class. If they would have played I woul have given this five stars.
