About

Jenny Lewis, a Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter, first won the praise of critics and fans as the lead vocalist of the indie rock/pop group Rilo Kiley. In between recording and performing with her band, Lewis worked on solo material—private songs that she never intended to release to the public. When urged by Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst to contribute to his new Team Love label, Lewis decided to enter the studio to record her solo debut, Rabbit Fur Coat. The album is a haunting mix of confessional, reflective lyrics, folksy instrumentation and bluegrass harmonies (from Kentucky-born sisters, the Watson Twins). Rabbit Fur Coat also features guest appearances from leading indie rock artists such as label head Conor Oberst, Ben Gibbard (Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie) and M. Ward (who also served as co-producer of the album).

    Great Night

    by Nick65860 on 3/7/16Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

The show was great! They played the whole Rabbit Fur Coat album in order and brought out Jimmy Buffet for Handle Me With Care. The Watson Twins were as wonderful and talented as I expected.

    A Rare Night

by MattyMF on 2/9/16Ryman Auditorium - Nashville

Nashville was fortunate enough to be one of only a handful of cities to be on the 10th anniversary tour for Rabbit Fur Coat, and as the last stop of the tour it felt like a full-on celebration. Everything was perfect. Jenny Lewis was in top form. Of the 5 times I've seen her perform, this was far and away the most assured and technically proficient performance. The surprise appearance of Jimmy Buffet was a treat. It truly felt like a unique, special moment that won't ever happen again. Bravo to all involved.

    Great performance by Jenny Lewis

by AdamKushner on 2/8/16Beacon Theatre - New York

The album Rabbit Fur Coat is just as fresh as it was ten years ago when it first came out. Jenny Lewis is a great songwriter and she really delivers with an immensely talented band, the beautiful voices of the Watson twins, and master guitarist M. Ward, best known as half of the pop duo She & Him. Ward also opened the show with his own solo band and did a fine job. My only complaint was that the audience talked way too much, especially during instrumental solos. Just because nobody is singing doesn't mean the musicians don't deserve your attention. Of course, that's not the fault of the performers themselves but it was still a little bit distracting. There were three sets with two intermissions. M. Ward was up first, then the full album performance of Rabbit Fur Coat, and lastly an extended encore of Rilo Kiley songs and songs from Acid Tongue and The Voyager closing with a fiery rendition of "She's Not Me".

Loved her before, love her more now!

by MBizzle16 on 2/8/16Beacon Theatre - New York

The show was incredible - she made sure to play every song from the album and came back for a second half that included hits from The Voyager, Acid Tongue and her days with Rilo Kiley. Her outfits and stage presence were, as always, incredible, and the inclusion of the Watson Twins made it even better. As for the venue, they have a strict 11:00 curfew (which she respected), which meant there was NO ENCORE. I hate when shows don't have encores. The sound for M. Ward could have been better - his signature is already a little artifact-y (not a word, I know) and the sound should have been sharper to respect that. The sound for Jenny was wonderful, but that's not unusual for opening vs. main acts. The drinks were not cheap and they could have had bigger bars / a few more bartenders but overall it was fine.

Jenny Lewis gave a wonderful show

by Jennie2Jenny on 2/3/16The Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian - Los Angeles

Jenny Lewis wowed the crowd at Immanuel Church Saturday evening. Everything from the beautiful sanctuary setting (great acoustics), good lighting, and wardrobe changes(! ) to the enchanting voices and choreography of the Watson twins & MWard's awesome set, was perfect. She performed Rabbit Fur Coat, in song order, for the first time. After the intermission she gave us her hits from Voyager, which was awesome! Jenny, although not chatty with the crowd, was sweet and very appreciative of the more exuberant fan's shout-outs. All in all a very special show!

    The Most Incredible Concert Experience!

by reallylucky13 on 2/1/16The Cathedral Sanctuary at Immanuel Presbyterian - Los Angeles

This has been by far one of the best concert performances I have seen in awhile. The venue and staff at The Cathedral were perfect. We had second pew seats and were just amazed by the sound quality. Jenny and the Watson Twins performed an amazing set with Rabbit Fur Coat. Then there was a short intermission and they returned! The night kept getting better. I think Jenny, Chandra & Leigh are superior artists and would definitely see the show again if I could. It was really an amazing and fulfilling experience that just soothed my soul.
