    BEST CONCERT EVERRRR

by LanEVO21 on 1/13/11Los Angeles Sports Arena - Los Angeles

First of all, I would start off saying that for those of you who haven't gone to any of his concert, u should! I have been to a few: snoop dogg, linkin park, korn, etc....but Jay Chou, damn, its the best of the best! No stalling in between songs. I mean, other concerts, when the singer has to run to the back, the audience have to wait until everything is set up before the next song starts. Usually 10 to 15 mins. Jay's concert have other singers to fill in while he changes and its pretty cool because some of those singers are pretty popular too. Its amazing to get to see them too for the price you pay. The concert was exciting and alive. Cons: I wish they chosen a different place. Sports arena sucks and the workers give bad service there. Other than that, 2 thumbs up!

    Jay is the Man!

by XiongQing on 1/11/11Los Angeles Sports Arena - Los Angeles

I'm glad I went to Jay Chou's concert, I waited half a decade to see Jay Chou perform and that only thing that I wished I should have done is buying the VIP seats so I could see him up close and not rely on the screens for close ups. The concert was about 3 hours and and it was delayed by 30 mins~ his guests were Cindy Yen, Gary Yang, Lara, and The Drifters. The only thing that bothered me was that the fans were pretty much dead, about 30% of the fans stood up and danced along to his music. I tried doing that twice and people asked me to sit down because they couldn't see. :(

    Miracle!

by AliceInAzoo on 1/10/11Los Angeles Sports Arena - Los Angeles

First I thought tickets were very expensive (because I didn't know him 'til then) but after watched the show, I felt it's totally worth the money. It was amazing experience... didn't feel like it was just a music concert. It's more like going to Disneyland or watch circus/opera. Very talented man from Asia. I hope he will be back soon!

    Jay Chou: An ultimate musician

by SplitLover on 1/10/11Los Angeles Sports Arena - Los Angeles

I’ll get the few negatives out of the way first, one being the explosions during the show, especially the repeated ones at the opening of the concert. They were completely unnecessary and added absolutely nothing to the show other than to scare people and create a lot of indoor air pollution. Not to mention if I am going to lose my hearing I don’t want to associate it for the rest of my life with Jay Chou. The only other negative being the placement of the video/projection screens. The screen blocked the view of the stage from the concourse level and was also too close to where we were sitting that you had to strain to see what was being shown on the screen. The screens would have been better placed upstage so that the view of the stage wasn’t blocked by them and would have still been able to have been seen by everyone in the venue. Jay is the consummate musician, he had a live band with him which shouldn’t have surprised me but it did. I would expect no less from him but it still came as a surprise that he went to that extent of brining a band to the U.S. for his concert. I’m so use to artists these days singing to a recorded track that when an artist has a live band with them they really get my love. He also had backup dancers with him which was another surprise to me since I always think of him as a solo, do it all himself, artist. The dancers definitely lived up to Jay’s standards, they were excellent and worked their butts off so it’s too bad they didn’t get introduced at some point so they could receive their due credit. The thing that has always attracted to me to Jay is his diverse music styles, he goes from ballads to rock to pop to rap and with such ease and skill. And on top of that he went from playing the piano to the guitar to the flute, again the ultimate musician. And his stage numbers went from featuring the grim reaper to Broadway style dance numbers, again showing his creative versatility. I was a bit disappointed that he made no effort to speak any English when he was talking to the audience or that he didn’t have what he was saying translated into English. I would never expect an artist to translate their songs into English nor would I want that since I think the songs lose something by being translated but I do expect artists when they are performing in the U.S. to address their audience in English even if it’s through a translator. I happened to arrive at the Sports Arena before they opened the doors and stood in line with many fans who were speaking Cantonese/English along with Mandarin/English speakers so those in attendance were not all Mandarin speakers. And I noticed when the other artists performed (although not a negative I could have done without them since it made for a long concert which seemed as if we saw as much of the “other” artists as we did of Jay but I suspect they are all artists that Jay represents and that’s why they were included in the show) and would speak in English the crowd would roar in appreciation so obviously being spoken to in English was not a negative for the crowd. I do thank Cindy Yen for introducing herself in English so that those of us English speakers who wanted to know more about her were able later on to look her up on the internet.

    Jay Chou was amazing!

by LAgroupie on 1/10/11Los Angeles Sports Arena - Los Angeles

Jay Chou put on an exceptional concert! The music was great and the performance was amazing. He always put so much thought in the experience of the audience and the effort shows. He's a great talent and I hope that he'll continue to hold concerts in LA (as opposed to Vegas like so many Asian musicians are doing). This concert was much better than his previous one 3 years ago, but I would say that the Incomparable Tour was the best among the 3 Jay Chou concerts that I attended. I must say though that the tickets are extremely expensive! Way too expensive. I paid close to $150 for nosebleed seats! I believe that's why the concert wasn't sold out. Had the prices been more reasonable, some of my friends who didn't attend would've attended. Also, traffic control was a failure. The parking lot was jammed after the concert and we did not move for about 15 minutes. It took about 30 minutes to get out. That's not acceptable.

Poor experience on jay chou's event

by Alanang on 1/10/11Los Angeles Sports Arena - Los Angeles

Well we are among those fans that bought our ticket very early. There is no option for us to choose seat or whatever. We were just assigned to seat with the worse viewing angle, there is a huge flat screen blocking the view and we didnt event know what's happening on the curved big screen all the time. However, those guys who bought last minute ticket got super good deal and get assigned to a better seat with better viewing angles. The price was cut like half as we know at the end and the fans was not protected at all. I think most fans buy ticket in advance in stead of waiting for the last minute deal. There are like 50% seat empty with better viewing angle but we were just put at the worse place.

    Outstanding performance by Jay Chou.

Jay brought many of his old songs and combined with new ones to create an amazing concert. Definitely will go see him again when he comes back to LA.
