JASON ISBELL IN CONCERT:
Alt-country singer/songwriter Jason Isbell is a master of writing songs that maximize the emotional impact of his heartrending voice. From his time with the Drive-By Truckers to his solo material with his band the 400 unit, Isbell has proven himself a consummate storyteller, building a loyal fanbase with his stripped-down, emotionally relatable songs. Riding high on the success of fourth album Southeastern, Isbell will support Ray LaMontagne on tour in 2014, rounding out his time on the road with select headline appearances of his own.
Â
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Born and raised in Northern Alabama, Isbell grew up playing music, encouraged by his musical family to take up multiple instruments. After a brief stint as a songwriter, he joined southern rockers the Drive-By Truckers for their 2001 tour in support of their album Southern Rock Opera, staying on with the band as a guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter until leaving to pursue a solo career in 2007. His debut album Sirens of the Ditch was well-received by critics, providing him enough momentum to put together a full band for 2009 sophomore outing Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. With his fourth studio album Southeastern topping criticsâ lists in late 2013, Isbell once again hit the road for a string of highly anticipated 2014 tour dates.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:
"Jason Isbell is awesome! He knows how to write a song and how to interact and entertain an audience. His band is great and they genuinely seem to enjoy what they do."
" Jason is an entertainer that writes from his soul and you can feel it in his performances. I would recommend anyone seeing him and his band."
" Jason Isbell and his band put on a phenomenal show, as they always do. The crowd was excited and engaged."

Iâve seen him and Amanda both on solo and full band gigs just under 20 times. Anyone who can sing about the Devil on his shoulder so beautifully and can then stare him down with such conviction is damn fine by me. There are many who will just say âup and singâ. They truly miss the spot.
Outstanding venue and staff. Jason Isbell, Amanda Shires, and Sadler Vaden were incredible as always and this Acoustic Tour has been a treasure chest of beautiful music and memories. When Jason called an audible for Sadler to play "Wilder Days", a Morgan Wade song which Sadler had produced......well the roof came off the building! Most people aren't familiar with the song but EVERYONE knew something special was about to happen. No video. No cameras for this one. And we were treated to a special moment at The Paramount. I'm a big fan and I'm pretty sure this will unlikely happen ever again. The rest of the set was outstanding and I highly recommend this venue.
Tremendous performance by a superstar! The additional of Amanda Shires and Sadler Vader was a bonus!
I went to this event thinking that it was going to be a real âtreatâ. I have been an Isbell fan for about nine years and have seen him a few times. I especially like his shows when Amanda is playing with him and thought this was a great opportunity to see them together. It was an excellent event and went beyond my lofty expectations. The set list was a great mix of his recorded songs and were unique renditions of the songs I know so well. Amandaâs fiddle sound was front and center for many of the tunes and her beautiful voice was wonderful to hear all set long. Sadler Vaden was awesome on lead acoustic guitar and his singing on his own tune was an unexpected treat. I donât know if Isbell plans to do this again as his career continues but I will make sure never to miss it when/if it comes around again. I also enjoyed listening to SG Goodman whom I never had heard before and I plan to buy her music to get better acquainted with her sound. All GREAT!!!
No 400 Unit but thatâs fine. These 3 gave a beautiful, intimate performance.
Letâs not talk about the opener. Jason Isbell was awesome. The 2 guitars worked together and the violin filled the room. Great songs. Great performance. Great crowd.
Saw Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit at Pier 17 in NYC. Fantastic venue and even better performance. The song writing and musicianship is like no other. Just bought tickets to another show in April...cannot wait!
I would buy tix anytime, anywhere to see Jason Isbell and his band. What a great musician and songwriter.
Everything from the parking to the last minute audience setup was an absolute cluster. Tickets purchased nearly a year ago became "invalid" the day of the show at noon. With no opening act, our group of 4 was forced to stand in a long line to get "upgraded seats" that were in no way upgrades. Spacing was nonexistent. Only one parking lot was open, so all in attendance was funneled through one lane, one line exit. I've never seen a venue so completely utterly unprepared. Jason Isbell was solid. It's horrible that Cola Concerts completely ruined it.
