    Emma was awesome

by Anonymous on 1/30/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

The show and the theater were excellent. The ticket price was very reasonable and I was happy that our group was able to sit together. Everything was perfect....the play and the theater..not a bad seat in this house!

As Much Fun As the Book!!

by Katiej13 on 1/19/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

Emma was outstanding, both the musical itself and the title character. There was not one weak performance; the set and staging were kept tastefully simple, enabling the pace of the production to flow seamlessly. The writing was masterful, reflecting Austen's ironic style perfectly. All on all, the show was delightful, the actors were first rate, and the audience went away smiling and well entertained.

We were looking forward to a really nice show. The description made it sound amazing! Was not worth the money. Wish I could get a refund. Left at intermission.

Clever adaptation of a great novel

by Cowley on 1/15/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

Most adaptations distort the originals, but this musical was a clever piece that provides a wonderful viewing experience. All the roles were well played by skillful actors / singers. One could have wished for a more powerful voice for Mr. Fairfax, but his acting was good. On one or two occasions, the amplification of the soprano leads created painful sounds, but that's probably being overly critical. I loved the set--so very 18th century! The scene changes were quick and inventive. Applause for both cast and crew! Don't miss this event.

    Emma rocks as a musical!!!

by Kyeanne on 1/15/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

As an avid "Janeite" I was delighted to see how closely the AZ Theatre Company's performance of Emma corresponded to Austin's. An endearing story made more enjoyable through song, wit, clever staging and a talented ensenble. Although this was undoubtedly Emma's story, all characters played their roles to perfection. You must try to see this performance before it leaves the beautiful Herberger Theatre.

    Emma definitely worth seeing!

by MrsDRG on 1/14/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

This is the first Arizona Theatre production my husband and I have attended, and we will definitely be back! We loved the play! The main actors, especially Emma, were highly skilled, both in acting and in singing. We stayed for the talk afterwards with the actors and really appreciated it.

    Didn't like it

by SanePerson on 1/13/13Herberger Theater Center - Phoenix

Seemed like this aimed to fill a need that didn't exist. Why a musical adapted to Jane Austen? Could have fulfilled my life with no such attempt. Boring, tiresome, and unnecessary.
