Delightful performance - loved the musicians and the creativeness of the Gamelon.
We really did not know what to expect, as Sewell was overseeing a smaller dance company and we were not sure how much J. Sewell ballet would be preforming. I was great and we had the good fortune to sit in the 2nd row center. My husband and I were delighted to see such great dance up front and center. My husband wants to go see James Sewell again real soon.
It was great to see a fun twist to ballet! The dancing was great and the atmosphere relaxed.
I always enjoy Jame Sewell's performances for thei creativity and diversity in dance. This particular performance offered a wonderful variety from traditional to whimsical, from classical ballet to contemporary. The preface of this show was based off a reality show spin. The "filler" that was used to support this preface seemed to be a bit much and a little too far off the path of dancing. I would highly recommend the dance and know that you will have to put up with the filler.
My family tends to like ballet, but sometimes it can drag on, or the talent can be a bit lacking. Neither was the case for this event. Our entire family LOVED it including my 11 year old daugher and my 7 year old son. My husband and I laughed harder than we've laughed in a long time. The show was hysterical, creative, fast-paced and fun to watch. If you love ballet, you'll love this show. If you hate ballet, you'll love it too.
We left half way through the show. Was very disappointing. There were some impressive dance moves but the overall satire throughout the show I felt was more annoying than humorous. I felt the performance belittled the true art of dance.
