    James McCartney Multi-talented, Charming, Unique

by AuthorMusicTeacher on 6/6/13Duling Hall - Jackson

James McCartney is gifted, multi-talented, charming, unique, and an intense performer. He is making his own path in music, a path of contemporary reality mixed with poetic mystical vision. He's polite, charming, with no pretense. We were early at the door because of our long ride to get there. He greeted us unexpectedly with "hello" even before the show. After giving his best on stage to a very appreciative crowd, he did two encores. After 39 concerts across the country night after night on his tour, he was still patient and met with everyone to pose for photos and sign autographs. On stage he gave his best 100 percent and played difficult and demanding passages on guitar and keyboard throughout the concert. He sings expressively and emotionally. My daughter and I both enjoyed this concert. James McCartney is an artist's artist.

    Gifted, Multi-talented, Charming, and Unique

James McCartney is gifted, multi-talented, charming, unique, and an intense performer. He is making his own path in music, a path of contemporary reality mixed with almost mystical vision. James McCartney- talent yes, personna not so much!

by Minneapolitian on 5/5/137th St Entry - MPLS

Very talented guitar player, decent singing voice. Songs- not very catchy musically or lyrically, not the kind to appeal to a wide audience. Seems depressed- doesn't smile, no expression when talking briefly to the audience. No charisma! Just stands and sings (or sits at piano and sings). Nice that he autographed and allowed photos afterwards, but he still was devoid of personality while doing so. He made all 4 of us feel tired and depressed by the time we left! Just SMILE once in a while at least!!

Very Enjoyable-Can't Wait To Hear More

by Jamesfanatic on 4/27/12Wonder Bar - Asbury Park

I saw James at the Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, NJ. (BTW: it is not true that this was only his 2nd time performing ever, though he definitely is still a newbie). Anyway, I found his music and his performance to be great. He shows a wide range in his songwriting and musicianship as well. I agree that he needs to loosen up and engage more with his band and the audience. His posts on Facebook certainly indicate that he is having a great time and enjoys performing though he seems reticent to show his emotions on stage and when surrounded by fans. Hopefully with time this will change. He is certainly willing to pose with fans, sign autographs, etc., which is great. I am going to see him again on Long Island in a couple of weeks and I can't wait.

    OK

by Sculpted on 2/6/12The Wonder Bar - Asbury Park

Mr. McCarney's music was interesting and enjoyable but he has a long way to go as an entertainer. He barely spoke and never smiled. He looked like he was terrified. An audience appreciates the performer who makes them feel like he is happy to be performing. The audience (including me and my friends) were very supportive of him but he just seemed frightened. The show only lasted perhaps forty minutes and there was no encore despite the audience's enthusiasm. I wish him well; his music is fine; but he really needs to amp up the presentation.

    James McCartney was cool.

by rockchicangel on 2/5/12The Wonder Bar - Asbury Park

This was his 2nd concert ever and he did really good. He is multi talented....plays more then one instrument and sings. In other words he will continue to develop and has a lot of talent on his own right. He was very very nervous so hopefully as he does more shows and gets comfortable with his own talents and perfoming he will continue to flourish. I would go see him again when he comes back to Asbury area.

    It's over already!

by jmlite on 2/5/12The Wonder Bar - Asbury Park

Mr. McCartney took the stage at 10 pm and at 10:40 the show was over...The sound was so bad that it sounded like an old jukebox playing.McCartney looked like he was about to have a panic attack at any moment and wanted to get off the stage as soon as possable and that's just what he did.The people next to us drove down from Boston 4 plus hour drive for a 40 minute show.
