Rainy night, Lotus was quite adequate

by trooperrick on 5/26/15Festival Pier (at Penn's Landing) - Philadelphia

I showed up early to see The Werks. There was no time in between sets becaus e of the two stages. Not sure how I feel about the sand in the expanded part of the pier. Papadosio's set got cut short because of rain, but they were killing it. Lotus also had to cut out two songs, unfortunately one of them was Jump Off. I think they tried to compensate by including the horns in 4 songs, but it seemed like they were just trying too hard. Nevertheless, even a Lotus show that's slightly off is still a freaking fantastic show. I had a great time.

The most amazing lotus show ever! Overall awesome day even with rain delay! Some sets could have been Alittle bit longer.

The lineup was awesome! I was disappointed that a venue in the middle of a big city didn't have running water...and even more disappointed that the porta potties were not maintained at all. They needed to be cleaned and completely ran out of toilet paper. I really think this can have a huge negative impact on a festival experience and porta potties are really only acceptable if the show is on a mountain.

    Jam on the River recap

by 215Music on 5/19/15Festival Pier (at Penn's Landing) - Philadelphia

Excellent event, with the two stages it was easy to time out who you wanted to see, although food options and locations were limited, there was plenty to drink - great sets from all the bands

    Major Design Flaw

by k8cally215 on 5/19/15Festival Pier (at Penn's Landing) - Philadelphia

Last year Jam on the River came back after a many year hiatus to Penns Landing & was a beautiful day on the river, however the sound quality was awful. This year they switched to Festival Pier, while not the same beautiful surroundings that Penns Landing has to offer the sound there is much better so I understood the switch. I had heard they recently renovated Festival Pier & was excited to see any changes they had made. As soon as I walked in I noticed a MAJOR DESIGN FLAW. Sand. Sand everywhere. SAND. We're on Columbus Blv...in Philadelphia...on a river. Why is there sand everywhere? And obviously not real sand, but that sand they put in ash trays. And they had been calling for storms all week & my boyfriends first thought was "oh this is going to be fun when it rains." and low & behold...the rain hit during the second to last band, drizzles at first then the sky opened up with thunderstorms. The venue handled the storm wonderfully & did a great job keeping everyone as dry & safe as they could. Once the storm passed & they resumed the concert...there was now WET SAND everywhere! Where there would normally be perfectly good concrete for everyone to stand, sit or dance there was now gross puddles of wet icky ash tray sand all over. The music however was great, with the exception of Savoy, who is a good dj but just had no place on a "jam on the river" lineup. Lotus covered Disclosure & was incredible, the Jam Stage was on point all day. Overall a great day but Festival Pier really needs to get rid of that sand.

    What a day.

by thewolfmansbrother on 5/19/15Festival Pier (at Penn's Landing) - Philadelphia

Myself and my group of 9 had a great time at Jam on the River. It was a beautiful day until the quick moving thunderstorm, but event then, we had a great time. Not a huge fan of the festival pier set up, but it didn't matter.

    mixed feelings

by Anonymous on 6/3/14River Stage at Great Plaza - Penn's Landing - Philadelphia

Jam on the river was definitely fun lotus killed it and zoogma and conspiritor were really good. However I would have like to see papadosio play longer and for some reason GRIZ wasn't allowed to get as loud as we all expected. He even had to apologize to the audience and ask them to pretend it was louder and rage with him :-/

EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING EXCEPT FOR 2 THINGS

by grumble420 on 5/31/14River Stage at Great Plaza - Penn's Landing - Philadelphia

I HAD A GREAT EXPERIENCE AT PENNS LANDING FOR JAM ON THE RIVER. EVERY THING WAS WONDERFUL EXCEPT FOR THE WATER FOUNTAINS AND THE BATHROOMS. MAYBE FROM THE START OF THE SHOW THE SECURITY GUARDS SHOULD STAND THERE BY THE RESTROOMS.
