About

Norway-based Jaga Jazzist dissolves boundaries while synthesizing elements of electronica, jazz, dub, and avant-rock into a lush listenable stew that's all their own. It's a brilliant, multi-textured sound, rooted in the dynamics and instrumentation of jazz (lots of brass, woodwinds, a Fender Rhodes) but able to access the blazing rush of dance music and the arms-in-the-air abandon of rock. "Think of Steely Dan producing a Tortoise album." (www.pitchforkmedia.com). With infectious beats and cool arrangements Jaga Jazzist create timeless music that's melodic, hypnotizing, delicate, and subtle.

Excellent show and at a very nice venue

Jaga Jazzist live is even better than on their recording. Excellent sound, great light and very intelligent combination of acoustic and electronic jazz. Sax player was first class. I also like a Teagram Ballroom. Very relaxed atmosphere, plenty of room in 3 bars, reaonable prices

    Jaga is Amazing!

    by Jman138 on 6/28/11Venue - Vancouver

Jaga Jazzist was incredible. The venue called...The Venue...was a great, especially because of its small size, and had great acoustics. The levels needed some work as the keyboard, at times, drowned out some of the spectacular horns in their songs. Quite an amazing spectacle to see nine band members stay together on every beat. Wish they came to North America more often.
