About

Jackson Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and has defined a genre of songwriting charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 2007.

Except for a brief period in NYC in the late 1960s, Jackson has always lived in Southern California. His debut album came out on David Geffen's Asylum Records in 1972. Since then, he has released fourteen studio albums, four collections of live performances, two "best of" compilations, two DVDs and several single recordings. Jackson's newest studio album, "Downhill From Everywhere" was released in July 2021 and GRAMMY nominated for Best Americana Album.

Browne is known for his advocacy on behalf of the environment, human rights, and arts education. He's a co-founder of the groups Musicians United for Safe Energy (MUSE) and Nukefree.org and a member of the Ocean advocacy group, Ocean Elders.

In 2002, he was the fourth recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, given to artists whose works exemplify the environmental and social values that were essential to the great California-born author. He has received Duke University's LEAF award for Lifetime Environmental Achievement in the Fine Arts, and both the Chapin-World Hunger Year and NARM Harry Chapin Humanitarian Awards. In 2004, Jackson was given an honorary Doctorate of Music by Occidental College in Los Angeles, for "a remarkable musical career that has successfully combined an intensely personal artistry with a broader vision of social justice."

    In top form

by Joanne on 11/1/23Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

Jackson Browne never disappoints, but his show in LA on Oct, 21st was over the top fabulous. With such a deep catalog, it was nice to hear some things that don't get played too often, especially That Girl Could Sing. The band was having a blast, and the solos in Red Neck Friend, especially Val's, had everyone in the audience in awe. Two Warren Zevon songs were also a nice surprise. Jackson's voice is still strong and clear, but he uses his singers to his advantage when approaching the high notes. It all worked beautifully. I'm not from LA, but his pleasure at being in his hometown was evident, as he chatted and smiled throughout the show. He played from 8-11 with one intermission, but for the audience, it's never long enough. Rock on Jackson Browne, you are a national treasure.

    “The Best” in the West!!!

by Barbarita on 10/30/23Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

I traveled from the East Coast to attend Jackson Browne’s show at the Venetian Theatre in Las Vegas on October 13, and it was all that I had expected and hoped for. Too short (2 hours plus break), but things go quickly in Vegas! Next I attended his show at the Hollywood Pantages Theater on October 23 (what would have been the 30th wedding anniversary for my recently deceased husband and I). This show was even more than the Vegas show. Over three hours (with one 15 minute break) of that wonderful sound wrapped around me, bringing me some much-needed comfort and joy. Not only was Jackson spectacular, but his band members and beautiful backup singers gave it all that “extra punch”. What a night! I did experience some sadness knowing that was the final US show of his tour. When will I see him again? What made these shows even more special was having my West Coast daughter along with me both nights. She was a Jackson Browne newbie, but he now has a new fan who was born when he was just coming out with his beautiful music.

by Alan on 10/28/23Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

The Pantages is great LA beaux art with great acoustics Jackson Browne is great LA artist and to me the greatest artist of the 60s and 70s Now at 75 his voice is richer and even more poignant The spirits of his deceased friends and lovers were palpable Perfect concert in every way Only regret is that I didn’t get tickets to all three nights

    Great spirit/ Terrible Sound

by MusicMan on 10/27/23Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

Jackson is a deep individual and truly comes from his heart in his songwriting and performing. The Pantages theatre is a great venue and the audience was most welcoming and embraced Brown with a full standing ovation the moment he walked onto the stage. His opener was acoustic and beautiful but wait - something is OFF. The sound quality was harsh and not at all what the Pantages gear can deliver. I spoke to the MOD and found out that Brown used his own sound person and not the resident one. Newcomers just don’t know how to dial in the sound to get a great result. It’s like going to a new movie and it cost 100 million to make but the projectionist at the theatre isn’t able to reach critical focus. It’s sad that a potentially great night was so handicapped by such poor sound. Otherwise - the musicians and Brown are beautiful players who have great skill.

    Amazing Evening

by Escrowgrandma on 10/27/23Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

I always wanted to go see Jackson Browne but never had the chance or time to go when he was playing but I'm glad I was able to attend his concert at the Pantages. Jackson Browne was amazing as always, The Pantages Theater was a wonderful, venue, the sound was good and there is not a bad seat in the house. Jackson Browne played everything the crowd wanted to hear including his playlist. The Band was amazing and the backup singer were fantastic. I would go see him again and would recommend any to go see him. I really needed that evening out. I actually bought a ticket for myself because no one else could go with me and made so many new friends there enjoying the concert. Thank you Jackson for bringing so many memories back to me when I was young. There were a few songs I actually cried listening to him sing. Its funny how music can affect your life and heart. Listening to Jackson Browne has done that for me. He has always been one of my Favorite Musicians.

by RB girl on 10/26/23Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los Angeles

The concert was everything I had hoped for. Being able to pre purchase parking was quite nice. It made the experience less stressful. The venue is awesome and the acoustics great. This was my first concert here. I have attended theatrical events in the past. I highly recommend this venue for concert events.
