    Awesome performances!!!

by Diva6 on 1/12/12Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

I went to see the play with my grandma who is a HUGE Jackie Wilson fan! I didn't know much about his life but now I do, and I am glad I went to see such a superb performance! All of the cast members presented an excellent performance along with their beautiful voices. We had very good seats on the main level in the second row right by the stage. I did not get a chance to see the old theatre, but this one is nice with an attached parking garage. Valet parking is only $10 due to the limited parking on the northside. The play has been extended to March 18th or 19th. So for folks who still want to see it there is an opportunity to do so.

    Jackie Wilson

by FluffyRoss on 1/10/12Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

This began with a lump in the throat--seeing Jackie in that hospital bed. A few not-so-subtle mentions of his "Mob" connections, but I feel she meant Jackie's manager, and it's a point of view that's in error. Furthermore, though the playwright implies that Elvis thefted Jackie's moves, they remained friends for years. It was Elvis and Al Green who visited Jackie at the hospital. The star of the show was fabulous. He brought back to us Jackie's energy, grace, charisma, dance moves, and much more. Wonderful!

    Don't miss it

by wholelollachuck on 1/10/12Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

The "Jackie Wilson Story" is a can't miss theater event. Kevin Roston Jr. is fantastic in the lead role and the entire cast is brilliant as well. The music can't be beat and the brand new home of the Black Ensemble Theater is magnificent. I feel like I'm piling on with the adjectives here but that's how much I liked this show. It's currently set to run through mid-March; go see it!

    The Jackie Wilson Story

by rallyhow on 1/6/12Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

This was an exciting musical event and tour de force for Kelvin Roston and his entire supporting cast. I could close my eyes and it was Jackie Wilson! This was a very talented and spirited group that made me feel that this was opening night. With this level of talent and the intimacy of this venue, they should be playing to a packed house every performance.

Black Ensemble delivered a fantastic performance!

by K3Kid on 12/24/11Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

The Jackie Wilson Story was fantastic. The acting, singing, and staging worked together to provide an informative, impressive, enjoyable experience. The music brought back memories but gave life to Jackie Wilson and his influence in the music industry. The story was poignant and the dancing and singing moved us. I highly recommend this to everyone. In addition, the new theater venue is beautiful. Not a bad seat in the house. Intimate and engaging. I was thrilled to find valet parking attached to the theater. Very easy to access and to move into the theater itself. What a wonderful addition this venue is for theater goers. I will be back and plan to attend all of the next shows.

    The Jackie Wilson Story, unforgettable!

by jcw5 on 12/20/11Black Ensemble Theater Cultural Center - Chicago

The Jackie Wilson Story was extremely entertaining, amusing and diverting. Most of all it was informational providing facts and associations not known and/or understood by this Jackie Wilson fan. Also, the music provided many memories for individuals who were at their most impressional age during the Jaqckie Wilson era. Thoroughly enjoyed the new venue and its easy location and availability not to mention the the staff members and their courteous efforts to insure that the audience enjoyed a pleasing experience.
