About
Although based in Seattle, Ivan & Alyosha create a sound that’s distinctly Californian, with acoustic instrumentation and bright vocal harmonies that evoke the West Coast’s summery, Southern locales. The band formed in 2007, when solo songwriter Tim Wilson met Ryan Carbary. Taking their name from Dostoevsky’s The Brothers Karamazov, the two began playing together, eventually traveling to Los Angeles to record a folk-pop EP with producer Eli Thompson. The Verse, The Chorus was released in early 2009, paving the way for a healthy tour and a decent amount of national buzz, including a nod from NPR’s “All Songs Considered.” Things picked up again in early 2011, when the band -- now a four-piece featuring Wilson's brother, Pete Wilson, as well as Tim Kim -- released the sophomore EP Fathers Be Kind and launched another tour. An impressive full-length album, All the Times We Had, appeared from Dualtone Records in early 2013 in the U.S. and the following year on Decca Records in the U.K. After adding Cole Mauro to the lineup on drums, the quintet recorded their good-natured, indie pop sophomore LP, It's All Just Pretend, released in the spring of 2015. ~ Andrew Leahey, Rovi

by mcmickey on 5/27/15Music Hall of Williamsburg - New YorkThese guys were incredible! Their live was so energetic, especially loved the drums (you did a great job, Cole Mauro!). And Tim's voice sounded even better live. They performed a full one and a half hours, mixed with old and new stuff - The Fold, Running for Cover, All This Wandering Around, Father Be Kind, Come Rain Come Shine, Be Your Man, Easy to Love, ending with It's All Just Pretend, the title song of the new album. These guys were simply amazing! The opener Kris Orlowski was surprisingly great too, has a really solid voice and good music.

by BeavertownMusicgirl on 4/25/13The Club at Stage AE - PittsburghThe small club atmosphere made listening to Twin Forks, The Lone Bellow, and Ivan Alyosha an unforgettable, personable, and a once in a lifetime experience. Stage AE is a great venue for bands to come to, being in an accessible location on the north shore. I can only hope that these bands go on to bigger and better things; I am glad that I got to see them so up close and personal.

by RebeccaMA on 4/24/13Brighton Music Hall - BostonTwin Forks started the night by playing an amazing set, which lead into the second opening band The Lone Bellow. I was not too familiar with the music of The Lone Bellow and Ivan & Alyosha, but was not dissappointed. All the bands sounded great and put on a great show. To cap off the unforgetable night all the bands took time to meet fans afterwards.
