BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Israel Houghton grew up in a Christian household in Phoenix and began playing drums in his church's worship band at the age of 19. Before long he was the leader of the group, an experience that inspired him to pursue a full-time career as a musician. His style incorporates a wide range of genres from soul and jazz to gospel and rock, and he first shared his blended compositions on his 1997 debut Whisper It Loud. Since then he's released eleven acclaimed albums, earned four Grammy Awards, and reached hundreds of thousands of fans during his televised performances at the Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. In addition he has played alongside Chris Tomlin, Alicia Keys, and Aretha Franklin, and continues to spread God's message with his uplifting music. With a voice that transcends traditional Christian music and a stage presence that captivates his audiences, Houghton has fans coming out in droves every time he tours with his band New Breed.

    He brought it

    by C. N. on 10/21/23

I love his worship music and he brought the house down in Chicago. He had the place in the spirit. Kirk Franklin and crew knew if they came to Chicago, Tom Dorsey's town the father of Gospel, that they would have to bring it and bring it they did. From Israel to David and Tamala to Tye Triplett to the Clark Sisters they all brought. Remember this is the town where Tyler Perry, when he did his plays, had to create a new character called Madea in Chicago because the Chicago audience wasn't having it. The concert was uplifting. I'm looking forward to the Reunion film.
