About

ISMAEL MIRANDA IN CONCERT:

It's been more than 40 years since Ismael Miranda burst onto the salsa scene, but the Puerto Rican singer hasn't lost his flair for delivering charisma-packed live shows. Miranda is a natural performer -- the wickedly talented showman easily enchants audiences with his rich voice and animated gestures, dancing around the stage with a huge smile as he praises his throngs of adoring fans. In 2014 Mirand released his album Son 45, proving his latest material is just as catchy as older hits like "Abran Paso" and  "Asi Se Compone un Son". Ticket buyers can expect high-energy performances from Miranda, and longtime fans will be ecstatic to see that he still possesses the same swoon-worthy dance moves that first made him an international heartthrob.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Puerto Rico-born, NYC-raised Ismael Miranda was an extroverted child with a booming personality. He started singing when he was eight years old, and by age 16 he had joined Joey Pastrana's band, making his recording debut in 1967 with the hit "Rumbón Mélon". Fellow salsa musician Larry Harlow later recruited Miranda to join his band Orchestra Harlow as its lead singer. Over the next five years, Miranda and Harlow enjoyed a fruitful partnership, recording seven albums together. Meanwhile, Miranda was a founding member of the musical ensemble Fania All Stars, which went on to achieve global success. Miranda sang on 17 of the group's albums between 1968 and 1986, and joined them on tour in Asia, Europe, and Latin America. During that time, his boyish good looks and charming stage presence earned him the name el niño bonito de la salsa, "the pretty boy of salsa". In 1973 Miranda left Orchestra Harlow and formed his own group Orquesta Revelación, which is best known for its seminal 1973 debut album Así Se Compone Un Son. In the late '80s Miranda left the group and moved back to Puerto Rico to work as a solo artist, recording and releasing albums under his own label, IM Records. Over the course of his career, he has recorded or participated in more than 90 albums, including 2014's Son 45, which fuses classic and modern salsa styles.

    Bad promotion

by QuePaso22 on 9/24/12Kravis Center - West Palm Beach

I purchased the tickets over a month and a half ago and I come to find out that Ruben Blades wasn't even playing. We never got a call/email nothing. Half way through show we spoke to the box office and they tried to offer us a meet-and-greet for the artist that were there but NO THANK YOU. This was truly misleading and. No disrespect to the artist that were there, but that's not who I paid to see. Poorly managed event.
