I think I've seen every Islands show in Southern California and they never fail to make their shows super fun and enjoyable. They put out amazing music with every album and I always look forward to their shows! Super talented, funny, and absolutely my favorite band. I will never not listen to Islands or anything Nick Thorburn puts out there. Incredible show, really cool venue, and great customer service from the staff there!
2nd time seeing Islands. I still can't believe they're not more popular than they are, but that also means getting to see them for cheap at awesome small venues. They played all their good new stuff from their two new albums and several hits from their old songs as well. They finished the encore with Rough Gem, which was awesome. They played a version of "Where There's a Will, There's a Whalebone" and it was amazing. Lushlife came out in the middle and rapped during the bridge. He crushed it. Lots of energy and really worked well with this song.
Awesome show! I went to see this show upon a suggestion from a friend and had never actually heard the music. Was not disappointed and would see again!
I've loved this band for about a decade now and their live show did not disappoint. :)
What an incredible show! They took a few songs to get warmed up and work out the kinks in the amplification equipment. Once they did Nick's voice was dead on, and all musicians were perfect in their performance. Mostly focused on the new double album, but it's all good songs, so what a great experience!
I had purchased these tickets on a whim as I knew some of their old stuff (the Arm, Where There's a Will There's a Whalebone, Swans) so I wasn't sure what to expect. I had also never been to Great Scott before. WOW! I was blown away by the pure talent and energy these guys had. The Keyboard/Guitarist was so talented and they kept the energy up through the entire show. The venue was a very intimate setting. The songs that I didn't recognize were my favorites; I think that says a lot. My girlfriend and I attend many concerts, mostly at House of Blues, and this was by far our favorite concert we've seen! I can't wait to see Islands again
not great - video sucked and was looped and should not have been used at all it was super-distracting
Enjoyable show overall, and a solid setlist, but they were off with a lot of cues and notes. I'll forgive them because it was the last stop of the tour, but it seemed a little phoned in. Visuals were slapdash, and there was a distracting 1 second black pause between each clip.
Way more mind-blowing than I expected!! PLEASE COME BACK
Didn't come on until after midnight, which is a bit unfair, especially for a Sunday night. Beyond that it was a good show, though I left after 6 or 7 songs because of the time. Definitely like the new songs.
