Iron Maiden - didn't do it justice to the Legends

    by GhostRider216 on 8/21/17Toyota Center - Houston

I attended their Book of Souls concert at the Toyota Center in 6-21-17. I have been listening to these living Legends since I was 13 or so (47 now). I went to the Toyota Center with bad expectations already not because of the band, which I worship, but because I knew from other attendances that the acoustic is not very good. Unfortunately, my worst fears materialized. The Toyota Center acoustic was horrendous this time again, the great players put up a great show (in terms of their will), but unfortunately, all I was able to hear was a very loud and low frequency "WOWW WOWW WOWW", if you understand what I mean. No clear definitions between vocals, guitars, and obviously the much expected Steve's bass. I left very disappointed, not of Maiden, but of the sound team. My honest feedback is that every serious band planning to play at the Toyota should do its homework, and that means, talking to the center owners, talking to other bands having played there, sending sound engineers in advance to research the venue and do what you can to improve the acoustics. I am going to give you an example, just recently I went to see Queen at the very same place, I had the same bad expectations due to the venue but believe or not, I don't know how the heck they did it but the sound was PERFECT, and I mean PERFECT. Queen's engineers figured it out, therefore, it means other bands can do it as well. For whatever it's worth, I don't like to see Bands with this caliber and trajectory being screwed up due to these kinds of details.

    Maiden Rocked the house

    by maidenfanfor35years on 8/3/17Barclays Center - Brooklyn

I saw them in Philly and enjoyed it so much I went back again to see them in Brooklyn for the final show of the tour. The show was great and I give many thanks to the band for doing the show in the heat. It was so hot that day and Bruce wound up shedding all his clothes and throwing them into the audience. Maiden - You guys rock !! I would also like to mention Ghost was awesome as well. I was amazed by their performance and i was hoping they would play llonger since they were so good. I hope to see them again.

Maiden still deliver - Book of Souls

by HUNGERoftheUNDEAD on 8/2/17Xfinity Center - Mansfield

This newest MAIDEN LP "The Book of Souls" is IMO the best overall MAIDEN slab since SIT Having said that, I would have still preferred more older material. The opening number "If Eternity Should Fail" was a great track to open the set - going straight into another new song "Speed of Light" a short quick paced song and a single from the LP. The new 13 minute track "The Red and the Black" as well as the least impressive new song played "The Great Unknown" should have been replaced by some tracks from PIECE OF MIND and POWERSLAVE both monumental LPs were dissed performing only ONE track from each! Add in the staple "Wasted Years" and SIT is another victim of ONE song played. Hearing "Children of the Damned" was the absolute highlight for any true old school Rivet Head as the band had only performed this classic song on 2 North American tours in the past - "Number of the Beast" and "Somewhere in Time" Also must continue to point out how awesome Jannick is to watch. This guy has more energy than an atomic bomb! I still cant fathom why they keep playing "fear of the dark" THIS is a staple? ZZZZ SOOO many far superior songs come to mind. Also "Blood Brothers" is a stinky boring turd which should never be played live ever again hahahaha!!!

    Iron Maiden rules!!

by TheOriginalJimmyBells on 7/29/17Barclays Center - Brooklyn

Iron Maiden is great! One of the few bands that still have all the quintessential musicians still performing with the group. I like the earlier albums best (Killers, Piece of Mind, The Number of the Beast, Powerslave), and although they do a variety of songs from these albums, I wish they did more. But all songs were great and heavy and rocked out! The sound in the concert, although loud, was a little muffled and not completely clear. I do not know if it's their sound system or the venue. Eddie is awesome! Live long Iron Maiden!!
