Lead singer and guitarist Ike Reilly keeps the songs firmly planted in the protest punk tradition with witty lyrics and exclamatory vocals. His backing band The Assassination help him explore ambitious musical territory, breaking into marching rhythms, bluesy folk jams, or U2-style guitar atmospherics at a moment’s notice. With Born on Fire -- their first album in six years -- due out in 2015, The Ike Reilly Assassination is making select appearances across the US to bring their passionate and charismatic live show to ticket buyers.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Michael “Ike” Reilly was born on a naval station in the Great Lakes region and grew up in nearby Libertyville, IL. Reilly began writing music while in college, but was often preoccupied by making ends meet with a variety of jobs including grave digger and hotel doorman. He finally had the chance to record his original material after he helped open Diamond City Recording studio in 1997. His debut album Salesmen and Racists was released in 2001 and immediately began generating positive buzz, which led him to assemble The Ike Reilly Assassination. The group made their recording debuted in 2004 with the universally praised album Sparkle in the Finish. Reilly and company wound up releasing five more albums that decade, ending with 2009’s Hard Luck Stories. The Ike Reilly Assassination returned in 2015 with the eagerly album anticipated Born on Fire, an ambitious take on pop-punk that pleased longtime fans while also making new ones.
