About

ICE-T IN CONCERT:

O.G. original gangster Ice-T’s brutally honest rhymes brought the mean streets of LA to fans across the country over 20 years ago. He still brings this same infectious energy and indomitable presence to every stage whether he’s performing as a solo artist or with his heavy metal band Body Count. Ice-T will have ticket buyers singing along to the choruses and bouncing along to verses on classics like “6 in the Mornin’”, “O.G. Original Gangster”, and “I’m Your Pusher”. He's going big for The Art of Rap Festival in 2015, with co-headliner The Game on board to help him celebrate the evolution of hip hop throughout the years.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Ice-T was born Tracy Marrow in Newark, NJ in 1958. He moved frequently as a child, eventually living with his aunt in the Crenshaw neighborhood of Los Angeles. It was there that his gift of memorizing and reciting passages by pimp-turned-laureate Iceberg Slim earned him his nickame. His music career took off in 1986 with the single “6 in the Mornin’”, which introduced listeners to Ice-T's voice while exposing the harsh truths of LA gang life. He established himself as one of the founding fathers of West Coast gangster rap with the albums Power (1988), The Iceberg/Freedom of Speech... Just Watch What You Say! (1989), and O.G. Original Gangster (1991). At the height of his popularity in 1992 he started the metal/rap fusion group Body Count, which rose to infamy based on the controversial song “Cop Killer”. He continued recording, touring, and stirring up controversy throughout the ‘90s both as a solo artist and a member of Body Count. Ironically, his gangster past made him a natural fit for the acting role of streetwise Detective Odafin Tutuola on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in 2000. Though filming limited his recording schedule, he still managed to finish the albums Murder 4 Hire with Body Count as well as the 2006 solo album Gangsta Rap. Body Count released Manslaughter in 2014, their fifth studio album and Ice-T’s first in eight years, and fans are excited for the O.G. of LA to resume his rightful throne atop the hip hop heap.

    Old School Radio

by B-Boy TRIX on 3/29/22Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - Cabazon

Morango Casino and THE ART OF RAP thank you so much for this legendary show. This was so hyped very reminiscent of the Club ICE-T opened off the 10 and Rampart The Radio (1982-83) very intimate and Real. The DJs Mc’s, Rob Base Mack 10 and OG and new school Rappers brought Down the Roof along with ICE-T who is a Legend, his delivery of rhymes are the Definition of rap!!! Watching ICE Live again made me think how thankful we should be for ICE-T bringing hip-hop to LA, thanks again ICE for signing my 40 year old Radio Club shirt and and saving me and my boy at the break dance event many years ago in Magic Mountain, be blessed my Brother & thanks for bringing the wisdom may you Coco & your Children be blessed!!!

    Love this venue!

by MissTyger on 6/20/17Downtown Las Vegas Events Center - Las Vegas

This was our 2nd Art of Rap concert. We attended last year's show at the same venue. The venue is small and personable and has great acoustics! I especially appreciate that being surrounded by tall buildings keeps the venue from being blasted by the sun during concerts! My only complaint about the venue is the chairs are small and uncomfy. Regarding the concert itself ... amazing line up! Art of Rap always has great artists. Was incredible to see Mobb Deep's last performance with Prodigy (RIP). My only complaint is the same issue I had from last year's event. It's really irritating as a consumer, to spend my money to come watch the show and have a great time, only to have the concert promoter/creator get on stage throughout the show and basically talk crap about the crowd needing to buy drinks, buy tickets and spend more money. It's really tacky and just kills the whole vibe.

    Real hip hop

Best concert of 2017 hands down. They don't make REAL hip hop like they used to.

The Art of Rap Las Vegas

by MissDiamond99 on 6/20/17Downtown Las Vegas Events Center - Las Vegas

The Concert was Awesome. Ice-T killed the vibe. He was so lame. He didn't need to be up there with the other acts. I highly suggest to keep it East Coast like they did. If you wanted to add a West Coast rapper to keep the energy going that was there, they should have went with Ice Cube.
