The Vanguard musicians were superb. What talent. The venue was a perfect setting for the band. A larger auditorium (Sugar Loaf Art Center)would not have the same impact as the Pavilion room did. We have gone to many musical gigs jn this room.. Care should be taken in the future not to mislead the customer by assigning seats when this was a "first come, first serve" seating.

by MJZzzz on 8/19/14Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - ChesterThe swingingest band in the land came to Chester, NY the other night and left the place ablaze and wanting more. Great music by a truly spectacular America treasure that has been in the "vanguard" of jazz music for nearly half a century. Had the pleasure of seeing Thad & Mel several times years ago and though they are missed, the spirit of their Orchestra, their music and musicianship still burns brightly in this incarnation of their BIG band. Rhythm section was so together. Soloists were burning bright. John Mosca's comments were fun, sometimes inside, and very funny. Only complaint - concert was a little too short. Crowd wanted more, seemed like the band wanted more and I know I wanted more! But, 70 minutes and off they went into the night for the drive back to NYC.
