The play was stimulating, humorous, thought provoking, entertaining, satisfying, but the title did not live up to its name "How to Love a Black Man". It did focus on the Black woman and her relationship to the Black man, and it did cover issues that some men face in how they see themselves, and also how they connect to women. I think another title would have been more appropriate.

How To Love A Black Man gets 5 stars

by Tiasha on 8/29/12Stage 52 Playhouse - Los Angeles

I really enjoyed the material/subject matter, and the writers approach to the issues raised. She was able to master the balance of comedy with drama so well that I forgot that I was actually learning some valuable life lessons! You have to go see this show for yourself because I can't began to express how masterfully put together it was. All of the characters were well developed and the cast nailed the characterizations in their performance.... WOW GREAT CASTING. The symposium was educational, entertaining and halariousy funny. Dr. Andrews (the lead), Juanita and her best friend Angela were off the hook. They took me on an emotionally charged journey ..... their performances made me laugh & cry.

I was wonderful to share in the experience of a live theatrical performance in my very own neighborhood! I brought along a girlfriend, she was a little skeptical at first but got into the play and laughed out loud! It was an amazing interactive and storytelling expereince. Ms Rene Margary keep doin' it my SISTAH!!! Dreams are what shapes us and the world around us. People, please check this young woman out whenever she is in your neck of the woods or not (drive people, drive to see her). You will not be disappointed!
