Fun night out at the Roller Derby

by BillyHouston on 7/25/18Revention Music Center - Houston

I went to the Houston Roller Derby with my niece and her friend visiting me from Switzerland. We had a fun night out. The venue was great, the staff very helpful explaining how the Roller Derby works. We really enjoyed the evening and will recommend it. VIP seating gives track side access which was great. General admission at the track means sitting on the floor.

    HRD Snooze-Fest

by Anonymous on 4/25/18Revention Music Center - Houston

I last attended HRD in March 2015 and enjoyed it. Now defensive tactics resemble a Rugby Scrum. Very little skating actually occurs. We left soon after the second match began. Psych Ward Sirens used to be hard core skaters. Perhaps I was watching roller disco...?

    Nostalgia On Skates

by IrishBassPlayer on 6/21/16Revention Music Center - Houston

The action was fun. It took a while to understand the scoring. The skaters worked very hard. The incessant announcements during the competition was an endless stream of advertisements. Annoying. Seats were good. Food was tolerable.

    HOUSTON ROLLER DERBY ROCKS!

by Dynoseis on 4/26/16Revention Music Center - Houston

This was my wife and my first ever Roller Derby. We had seats in the VIP box so we were sitting up front and personal. We were sitting there trying to figure out what was going on and a beautiful and sweet young lady by the name of Kelly Killpowski (Valkyries) came over and spent some time with us explaining the rules and what was going on! Wow talk about impressed. We had a lot of fun and fit right in with what I would call and eclectic crowd. I was sitting right next to one of the skaters great grandmother. The old lady was screaming and jumping up and down with the best of the kids. My wife and I are looking forward to the next Roller Derby!!!

    Unique Entertainment Option

by SassyT67 on 7/23/14Bayou Music Center - Houston

I had never attended a Roller Derby before this event. I didn't realize that it was an amateur event. However, it was a fun and entertaining event. I would have liked to have known that we could bring in our own folding chairs prior to the event. Standing for the duration of the event was uncomfortable. Next time, I'll bring chairs.

    Roller fun

by loro123 on 2/18/14Bayou Music Center - Houston

I only have one criticism. That being the .... no matter where you sit, unless you are on the floor or in the front row in the upper section, you will NOT get a veiw of the entire track. I dont like the open seating either. If you get up to go get a drink/snack or go to the bathroom, chances are you will lose your seat.
