    Disappointed.

    by M. S. on 12/9/22Beacon Theatre - New York

Except for Christone Kingfish Ingram, the show was horrid. The other three bands sucked. I don't understand how he ended up in that line up. He only play 4 songs. Very disappointing. It was promoted as Christone Kingfish Ingram. False advertising. I will never attend a WFUV event again. The only reason I gave three stars was that Kingfish was amazing.

    Disappointing

by Darryl on 12/9/22Beacon Theatre - New York

Kingfish Ingram was only on stage performing for approximately 15 minutes. A waist of money.

It's always a wonderful way to kickoff the holidays

    by P. P. on 12/9/22Beacon Theatre - New York

Love, love, love that the event is held at the Beacon theater, which, despite the less than stellar acoustics, is a great smaller venue where you can really experience the music personally from any seat in the house. It's a great way to hear less well known but extra special musicians/bands. This year the MC appearance was a little lacking in energy and enthusiasm. Would love the see & hear more form the team of FUV DJs at the events. Even if they just rotated announcing the bands, it would give us a chance to fete them a bit more, which they ALL deserve!

    AMAZING concert and great organization!

by kaduzy on 12/9/22Beacon Theatre - New York

I had a blast at the Spoon concert. There were other artists performing as well, but I skipped them. Everyone who worked at the venue was professional, helpful and courteous. I was told that they don't usually allow people to exit and reenter, but they made an exception for me, which really made me happy. FUV organized a good event but did not make the lineup clear, so I didn't know when Spoon would be performing. Next time, they should publish that information well in advance. Regardless, the show was fantastic and I appreciated being able to meet the band afterwards thanks to lax security measures.

    Amaze Balls!

by Jeselle on 12/9/22Beacon Theatre - New York

The sequins. The sparkle of the guitars. The energy, oh the energy of the room. Coming in from shining with rain sidewalks to pure sunshine in the exquisite Beacon theatre, for me over a decade, for Holiday Cheer over a thousand days, sunshine leaking and weeping out of guitars, pounding on my chest out of drum kits, soaring with the clouds on voices, sparkling out of the eyes and hearts of all in attendance. Amaze. Balls.

    Wanted more Spoon

by Dondilion on 12/9/22Beacon Theatre - New York

On scale of 1 to 10, i give the show a 5, mediocre in that there was NO Christmas spirit, no decorations, not ONE Christmas song, n the two ladies in silver sequins were boring, though they could harmonize, way too monotone! Spoon was great, but didn't perform long enough, prior bands took much time away. Little disappointed, but happy to support WFUV

    Always a joy

    by R. H. on 12/13/19Beacon Theatre - New York

What a great evening at the Beacon. It's always a blast to see the staff at WFUV and listen to great music. I'm a huge fan of Yola. Of course, FUV introduced her to NY (if not the U.S.) through the radio and now on stage. The standing ovation she received was well deserved. And Mavis brought the house down. Amazing for 80 years old. Not to mention Mumford and Sons who I expected to be great and Ben Rateliff--expectation also met. I can see no room for improvement. I'll be happy if the FUV Christmas shows continue to be as great as they have been through the years.

Mavis Was A Powerhouse & Everyone Else Was Also Outstanding!

by SophiaAlex on 12/13/19Beacon Theatre - New York

Each performer was full of energy, musically on top of their games and took me on a unique journey!! Mavis was IN CHARGE and so full of energy, she was stunning! Yola was AMAZING, what a talent! Nathaniel was so raw, so deep, he unexpectedly touched me and had me in tears and I loves it. Mumford and Sons were a dynamic string orchestra and the lead singer was as engaging as all hell! Each act was musical excellence and I'd see each and every one of them again and again.

    Big Smile

    by p. d. on 12/13/19Beacon Theatre - New York

From beginning to end this was a jewell of a holiday season bit of festiveness. It perfectly took my mind off of the front page stories. Yola was a new voice for me and I think she will be around for a while. Mumford and Son made the Beacon as intimate as a smaller room; what a treat.....first rate. Next, Daniel was also new to me but not any more......welcome Daniel. Mavis I first encountered with her dad and sisters at Peter Yarrow's Concert for Peace at Shea Stadium 48 years ago. She's a force of nature. I see her and band anytime. Happy Holidays & tx WFUV (my alma mater's great radio station).

    FUV Holiday Cheer

by Sully on 12/13/19Beacon Theatre - New York

Not the party atmosphere I was hoping for. The acoustic Mumford and Rateliff sets were a bit too introspective for me. Ratliff’s focus on new songs left me wanting something familiar. Mavis came in and injected fun at the end of the night!!
