    Charming performance!

by Bear60546 on 4/17/15Sursa Performance Hall - Muncie

Ms. Hahn, accompanied by pianist Cory Smythe, presented two hours of stimulating music to a very appreciative audience at Ball State University. Her reputation as an engaging soloist is well deserved.

The audience was part of the adventure

by AntManBee on 6/22/12Birchmere - Alexandria

While Ms. Hahn is the bigger star by far, Hauschka is clearly the dominant personality in these improvisations. On the album Silfra, she seems more self-assured than she did onstage. Nevertheless, she's clearly a stunning master of her instrument and an artist of real depth for one so young. The audience was transfixed and very appreciative of their efforts. To see such experimental music unfold before our eyes and ears, made us all feel like we were part of the adventure. Buy the album (the vinyl sounds much better than the CD), and if they continue to tour with these improvisations, look for Ms. Hahn to grow more ambitious.

    Unique and Incredible

by Burkeo on 6/20/12Birchmere - Alexandria

Hilary Harn is the best violinist in the world and she's found the perfect match in Hauschka. Their blend of improvisation is adventurous and wonderful to hear. They go places i didn't know existed. I feel privileged to have seen them at the Birchmere.

Hilary is probably the best in the world in playing Bach and Paganini; I know she is still very young and wanted to experiment, but I sincerely hope she will not be misguided "way out into the left field" and will not be able to come back to what she is really good at ---playing the good traditional classical music. Through out history this kind of "advandguard"music will not be around in 50 yrs. while Bach will be around for another 300 yrs. Majority of the people in that concert were very much disappointed, some even left half way through! I have been trying very hard to forget that bad experience of that El Rey concert. All I can do now is to listen to her playing of Bach and Paganini, especially the the Paganiniana! Hilary, I sincerely hope you will respond to my comment. By the way I was the one stood up and made the request.

Hilly was just... Mmmm, so good!

by Afanoconcerts on 6/13/12El Rey Theatre - Los Angeles

Alright well the place was empty for being the El Rey, which was awesome for me cause that meant a great seat 5 feet from stage, but it's sad that this kind of music gets so little notice from such a large city. I personally have a relationship with Iceland so I understood the album performed very well. If Iceland's landscape had a sound it would sound like this, so I was in heaven. Then of course there was Hilary, who is such a freakishly phenomenal violinist and bizzarely normal person that she actually has the ability to use her personality with her talent to get classical music to appeal to a younger generation. This concert was extra special for someone who actually knew who they were watching on stage, because it's not everyday you get to be so close to talent like that in such an unpopulated, yet large space. Love ya hilly!
